Find the Cheap Curral Velho Hotels

My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel over Christmas and New Year. Having read the reviews I have to say I was dreading it, but we were pleasantly surprised! We had a top floor room in block 3. It was fine - no smelly toilet or other horrid things I had read about. Ok the view was of a bank of solar panels, but we didn’t mind that, as it was away from the hustle and bussle of the main area. The beds and pillows were super comfy, the furniture was new, apart from the couch and the balcony chairs. The hotel and grounds are spotlessly clean with staff constantly sweeping and mopping and gardeners raking up leaves etc. the staff are all friendly and work hard. We are very well travelled and we both agree that this beach is one of the best in the world. If you like a beach walk, you can walk for literally miles along the soft sand - no seaweed, no shells and amazingly no rubbish washed up either! There is no shelter from the sun once you leave the hotel beach area, so take a hat and bottle of water. There are a few huts on the beach where you can buy fridge magnets etc and support the local people. My husband usually gets eaten alive by mixups and in 2 weeks here he only got 2 bites! I have a weak stomach and was dreading getting ill, but if you are sensible and use hand gel every time you have used the food tongs and get food that is freshly cooked and not been sitting around, I’m sure you will be fine - as we both were. It’s not the hotel that is at fault here, it’s the hotel guests who use the tongs with dirty hands and kids who leave the handle of the tongs/spoons lying on the actual food. We found the food to be good; just a bit of a feeding frenzy in the main buffet at busy times. The restaurants were a welcome relief from the chaos of the busy buffet. There is no shortage of hot water and the water pressure is fine too. There is a kettle and tea/coffee in the room and a good sized safe. This is a poor country, so if you have any room in your suitcase, you may like to take some toys, clothes, toiletries etc. The TUI reps can take them and give them out to the schools/orphanages; or if you are doing an island tour you will go through poor villages and inmates sure the tour guide will help you distribute them.

First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)
