Newly renovated rooms directly at the lake. Dining and breakfast can be taken comfortable in the pub, again with sea view! ,. It is clean, the staff very friendly. You go on wishes. There is a free parking. We recommend it in any case. Pier Ambleside directly opposite with many boat tours.

We had a very comfortable four day stay at Ambleside Lake House. It is set in an elevated position in a beautiful garden, overlooking part of Lake Windemere, just slightly outside the busy centre of Ambleside. Our room overlooking the garden on the first floor was spacious and light. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was of high quality and varied. A thank you to the friendly staff that made us feel welcome.

Opinion on stay at Temperance Inn. As stated already this is my honest opinion on our recent stay at The Temperance Inn on Lake Road, Ambleside in the lake district.. The stay was for five nights in September 2023 and was for a couple. The bedrooms are good with comfortable beds and an excellent shower, with towels provided. There is no car parking on site, If you have no car or if you do not want to use your car then the bus station is in very close proximity, just round the corner. Bus time tables are readily available at the library just opposite the bus station.

The Regent Hotel which we have been visiting for many years is no longer and is now named Wateredge Rooms connected to the Wateredge Hotel over the road. As usual we stayed four nights and the Breakfast experience on the first morning was one not to be repeated so we walked into Ambleside to other Cafes for the rest of our stay. There were only 8-10 people in the Breakfast area when we entered all Buffet type arrangements and certainly not inviting. Coffee and Toasting arrangements totally inadequate for large numbers and accidents will occur. I did complete the Inn Collection Survey and contacted them by email. The response was one of little interest and said they were ”continuously training staff to be the best they can be”. It wasn't a staff issue they were fine its the fact they have brought two Hotels together to reduce costs without any consideration to customer service. We certainly won't be returning.

Last minute I night stay to celebrate wedding anniversary. Stayed 5 years ago when hotel was part of English Lakes group, it has not changed much since then - some new outside furniture was all I noticed . And this is the reason for 4 not 5! Location, food and staff all great. And this is a great dog friendly hotel in the true sense that dogs can eat and stay with you in bar area and staff actively welcome them - which was one of the reasons for our return visit. Room 30 which is wheelchair accessible - just - (not for someone who is not independent as bath only and shower is fixed head) was ok. Comfy bed, nice view, convenient if you are wheelchair user. But stained carpet, rusty trims and grubby grout and cracked floor tiles in bathroom. Paintwork bashed and carpet creeping out from under door plates. Think room is overpriced for its current state. Would stay again in the hope that issues with the room will be rectified with a refurb/refresh.

This hotel is unexpectedly good, especially when compared with another hotel in the Lake District, it highlights the goodness of this hotel! It is large in size, warmly decorated, and has a nice balcony. The location is good, the door is the green area by the lake, and it is also very close to the town center. There is a British fan especially during the morning meal. Definitely recommended!

We arrived looking to do very little during our stay and that's what we got thanks to the staff at the three shires. We were greeted on arrival by Julie who was friendly and easy to talk to. Our room was clean,well decorated and there were some fantastic pictures on the walls. We were very impressed with the bathroom,even down to the heated sensor mirror . The bed was extremely comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious and we were able to relax in the lounge afterwards. There is a great choice for breakfast and Julie was a pleasure to talk to. We ate out at the Eltermere Inn the second night which I regretted as it wasn't as welcoming as the three shires. I would recommend this place to friends and family and we will be visiting again in the near future.

Lovely stay at the Rothay Garth B&B! We were in room 17, which is a corner room in the front. It is close to the road, but honestly never heard much road noise. The room was large and comfy, and beautifully bright and airy. The bathroom was lovely though a bit small. The location could not be more perfect.....easy walk to town center and just a half mile to the lake. The breakfast was outstanding, and had both large traditional English breakfast, along with some other smaller choices. Plus you could adjust large breakfast any way you liked. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The front sitting room is a great place to relax, though they currently do not offer the afternoon drink advertised on their website. The parking lot is a huge benefit as well. I would easily stay here again on next visit.

GGuest UserOur 4th stay now and as good as ever! We always try and book room 1 with the bay window if it is available and this time it was even better with a Christmas tree in the window! It’s the most friendly, warm and cosy place to stay, and in a brilliant spot for walks, shops and restaurants without needing the car. Steve and Caz are wonderful hosts who really care about their guests and you can tell they have thought of everything to make your stay as good as possible. So many little touches which make all the difference, and really fantastic breakfasts. We were there the first weekend in December when Ambleside saw a huge amount of snow in one day and you could tell that Steve and Caz were really doing all they could to find out information for their guests about road conditions etc. Steve and Caz, we hope you have a lovely Christmas, and very best wishes for 2024… we hope to see you again then! The couple prepared a breakfast card, you can draw on the breakfast card ✓ choose the food for breakfast the next day, the food is very rich, the taste is also very good, indicate what time to eat breakfast, and then you can enjoy it.

GGuest UserWe stayed in a pod for a night, breaking up our long journey from the Scottish Highlands to Derbyshire. We have stayed in all types of 'alternative accommodation' at YHAs up and down the country, and to be honest the pod was very basic- there wasn't a chair and table inside for example for when we wanted to play a board game. We played outside but were swarmed by midges! A foldable one under the bed would have been a good shout. However, first impressions didn't count, as we had an excellent night's sleep, very comfortable and cosy. We also had tea there and the food was wonderful. The shared facilities were so clean and the lounge area was lovely too. To top it off, the lady who greeted us on arrival was so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be at work, we felt warmly welcomed! Thanks YHA.

GGuest UserOpinion on stay at Temperance Inn. As stated already this is my honest opinion on our recent stay at The Temperance Inn on Lake Road, Ambleside in the lake district.. The stay was for five nights in September 2023 and was for a couple. The bedrooms are good with comfortable beds and an excellent shower, with towels provided. There is no car parking on site, If you have no car or if you do not want to use your car then the bus station is in very close proximity, just round the corner. Bus time tables are readily available at the library just opposite the bus station.

GGuest UserLast minute I night stay to celebrate wedding anniversary. Stayed 5 years ago when hotel was part of English Lakes group, it has not changed much since then - some new outside furniture was all I noticed . And this is the reason for 4 not 5! Location, food and staff all great. And this is a great dog friendly hotel in the true sense that dogs can eat and stay with you in bar area and staff actively welcome them - which was one of the reasons for our return visit. Room 30 which is wheelchair accessible - just - (not for someone who is not independent as bath only and shower is fixed head) was ok. Comfy bed, nice view, convenient if you are wheelchair user. But stained carpet, rusty trims and grubby grout and cracked floor tiles in bathroom. Paintwork bashed and carpet creeping out from under door plates. Think room is overpriced for its current state. Would stay again in the hope that issues with the room will be rectified with a refurb/refresh.

The hotel is simple and clean with no lounge or dining rooms but I prefer to be out and about so this suits me, there are lots of cafes, bars and resraurants in Ambleside so a basic room is all ypu need and its linked to Lilly's bar next door which also serves food. It was warm, comfortable and nicely decorated, our room had a lovely iron fire place and there was lots of space in the room. The only complaints I have is parking is a little bit out if the way so tricky if you have lots of luggage and you have to find a space to park and check in before they tell you where to park but we managed to grab a 30min paking space accross the road to unload so it wasnt an issue for us. The shower only seemed to have 2 settings very cold or scalding so just one to be careful especially with younger children. Overall a nice room in a fantastic popular little village for a great price.

National Trust - Wray Castle
崂崂山顽石Lei Castle (Wray Castle) is a Victorian neo-Gothic building on the west bank of Windermere Lake District. It is also the docking port of Windermere Lake cruise ships. The land includes part of the Windermere coastline, open year-round and is known for its selected specimen trees - Weilintong, mahogany, ginkgo, lime and various beech. We bought it because of freedom of the lake. Every pier to see. No disembark here. Shoot the exterior.

Wordsworth Grasmere
Ccoo***anI went to Grasmere to see Wordsworth's former residence Dove Cottage. I passed by when I came to the Lake District last time but didn't go in to see it. This time I can visit National Art Pass for free, so I can't miss it. I changed the ticket at the ticket office, and knocked on the door a few times to the small white house (that is, Dove Cottage), and a staff member will lead the guided tour. The very pocket garden next to the white house, the sun is shining, I really want to go in and sit and read a book all day!
Rydal Mount and Gardens
小小妞妞爸爸Everything here is now a private relic of Wordsworth. This is basically no one to visit, it may be hidden too deep, so visitors only know the memorial in the distance
The Bridge House
IIamisWhen studying the Lake District Raiders, I saw a lot of bridge houses mentioned in the travel notes, and learned about the interesting history of bridge houses. Of course, I want to see it. Take the Lake District bus to Ambrose and you can find the bridge houses. Recommended side view bridge house, there will be a whole building shape. The steps area is very small, you should be careful when going up.
