My husband and I came here for a two-day break the day after our wedding in early September 2024. We took a taxi from central London but if on public transport the hotel is c. 20 minutes walk from Richmond tube station, just outside the park. It is a building full of character, both due to the decor, and the fact that it seems to be several different structures knocked together. Our room was very comfortable, with a large bed, massive bathroom with excellent shower, a complementary gin (although this was only explained to us on our last day so we missed it!) The main attraction is the spa, which includes a lovely pool (c. 20 m), a jacuzi, steam room, wet room, hot tubs, and cold plunge. You can also get treatments but we didn't try that. Richmond is an easy walk along a terrace with stunning views over the Thames, and there are numerous attractive walks to do in the various parks and along the river. There are restaurants aplenty in Richmond, but we ate in the hotel both nights. The food was very good, but the restaurant felt slightly lacking in atmosphere unfortunately, particularly on the first night (a Saturday) when it was virtually empty except for us.

Lovely small hotel. Rooms equipped with everything needed and spotlessly clean. Enjoyed some delicious bar food late afternoon before going for evening. Staff extremely friendly. I enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast (included in room charge whilst my husband enjoyed a full English (extra). My only suggestion is some heating in the conservatory used for breakfast, was a tad chilly in there!
Great rooms , great food, location , staff amazing, tentative and personable .would highly recommend and a bonus of breakfast , cereal, yoghurts and muffins ,Great value for money . We had theatre tickets , close location to eventim Hammersmith theatre 10 minute walk to theatre and Hammersmith tube station , a great find and a hidden gem. Thank you
We had a good stay here using the 3 nights for 2 August offer. We have eaten here many times in the past for family occasions but have never stayed here. The rooms are somewhat dated and they could do with some nice smelling candles in the corridors as there was a bit of a stale food smell. Our original deluxe room had a small double bed and overlooked the car park but had a large balcony and separate shower. We were upgraded to a junior suite which had a small seating area. If you stay at the hotel overlooking the car park then you can hear cars arriving and the laundry collection was quite early. I imagine that rooms at the side of the hotel have a better view and are quieter. Staff were helpful. Systems are a bit paper based and so slow to check out. We ate off the club menu which is available until around 9pm and had a good choice of food. Breakfast was not included and was £24 for continental so we bought our own breakfast from outside. There are lots of nice restaurants in Richmond and the hotel is well located for Petersham Nurseries, Kew Gardens and a walk along the river. It is quite far from central London during busy times.
The Selwyn Hotel was lovely and definitely worth visiting. The building is beautiful and the staff were very responsive. The breakfast was amazing and is definitely worth the extra charge. A big surprise was that the hotel was within walking distance to the Thames and an area with many wonderful shops and restaurants. What a treat! I would give it a solid five stars, except that the room advertised a view of Kew, which does not mean Kew Gardens! Maybe you know this if you are from London, but as a non-native, I had no idea. My view was of a corner brick wall, which was disappointing. Be very specific when reserving about what your view looks like. In addition, the building can be noisy with outside traffic and from other guests. Overall, it was a lovely stay.

First, the positives - lovely comfortable bed, good quality bedding, and the blackout curtains, ensured a good night’s sleep. The location was convenient for us. The kettle, tea and coffee and biscuits were appreciated. However, there were a lot of negatives, notwithstanding the relative cheapness of a sub £100 price per night. The fixtures and fittings were in an awful state, falling to bits and rusting. Starting with the wardrobe, it was shoogly, and the door didn’t close properly. The toilet seat was extremely loose, making it very difficult to use. The shower head attachment came off, and the shower head (lower one) couldn’t be tilted. The basin tap handle was almost off, making it difficult to turn on/off and change temperature. The key to the outside door was difficult to use until you got the knack of it. There were things missing which should be there, regardless of price imo including bedside lamps, or at least one, so we didn’t have to get out of bed to switch the light off after reading. Also, a bath mat for when you get out of the shower would have been appreciated.

Hampton Court Palace
CCowyIt’s a lovely day out, especially when it’s a sunny day. We went to an English pub before hand and walked over. The gardens are massive to scroll around in and the many galleries inside to see historic items.
Richmond Park

Marble Hill House
MM22***63English style. Very good, there is a large swimming pool inside, the water is blue, the water is clear, and the building is very beautiful. The route is a bit far away. And on the mountain, but the air is absolutely good and worth a visit.
QIU GONG
Ccoo***anUnlike most national palaces, the palace is remote and quiet, more like a warm home. In fact, the palace is the smallest and most private royal palace in the UK. Through the palace, you can see the private life of the royal family and understand the dark behind the royal glory.
Bushy Park
AAnony Qthe park is famous for park run (5k every Saturday) but it’s also a good spot for watching deers, birds or even rabbits!
WWT London Wetland Centre
SStefan’s TravelsWhat a day out, amazing for kids and not only. The wildlife is spectacular, bring binoculars or a good camera as there are observation decks where you can have a go at bird watching in their free, natural habitat.
Isabella Plantation
1137***66Located in the southwest suburbs of London, Richmond Park hides a secret garden - Isabella plantation. This is a holy land of azaleas, with more than 50 species of azaleas in the garden, which bloom in May every year. It is definitely worth visiting.
