"[Biei Shirogane Onsen Park Hills Hotel]
Recommendation Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
1. Location and Scenery
The hotel is just across a small path from Shirahige Falls, and the sound of water can be heard right from the window. A 5-minute drive brings you to the Blue Pond, and a 10-minute climb to Tokachi-tei in the morning offers panoramic views of the Daisetsuzan Sea of Clouds. Every photo is a postcard-worthy moment.
2. Service
The warm welcome and English communication were effortless. We booked an extra room, and the front desk offered to use it towards dinner, which instantly cemented our friendship.
3. Food
The dinner buffet was a dazzling array of options: freshly grilled steak, paper hot pot, seasonal vegetables from Shirogane Town, Biei Wagyu curry... and the dessert section was a standout. Although breakfast was a buffet, it was served hot, hearty, and hearty.
4. Hot Springs & Facilities
The spring water is smooth and the open-air pool faces a forest waterfall, offering a superb night view. However, the pool is small and can be a bit crowded during peak hours. The free laundry and drying room on the first floor (please bring your own laundry detergent) is a great option for long-distance travelers.
5. Guest Rooms
The ”standard room,” a blend of Japanese and Western styles, is spacious enough and the bedding is spotless. However, the decor is a bit dated, and there are minor water stains on the bathroom ceiling, which detracts from the cleanliness.
Summary
The scenery, food, and service are all excellent, yet the room rate is about half that of similar-level hot spring hotels. If you can accept the retro aesthetic of the rooms, this is the best value in the Biei/Shirogane area and worth a second visit."
"We wanted to visit Shirogane, hence we chose the few hotels there. We settled on this one because of room availability and the guarantee that it was non-smoking. The hotel is old, but it's like all the other hotels in this area. We enjoyed the osen (especially the outdoor setting), which turned out to be free (as opposed to what was reflected on Trip.com website); we confirmed with the hotel before we arrived that this was indeed the case. Great that breakfast and dinner were included as there are very few other choices in this area."
"The hotel's proximity to Shirahige Waterfall was excellent. We particularly appreciated the evening shuttle bus service they provided to Aoiike (Blue Pond), which made our trip incredibly convenient and enjoyable. Both breakfast and dinner were also delicious!"
"Really great experience! Breakfast have lots of choice of local food. Welcoming snacks included.
Close to the Biei station and Bus station to blue pond with just within 5 mins walk. Connect to a souvenir shop with delicious curry bread!
Have free photo printing service all by yourself but please refrain from abusing. I hope this service could keep along!"
"The location is in a quiet mountain. My son said that fairies would come out. The cleanliness, service, and facilities were really the best. It looks old, but it is clean and the facilities look good. The owner is very kind. I plan to visit again."
"It is a B&B run by ********* and speaks Chinese. Dinner and breakfast are charged separately. Dinner is 4,500 yen and breakfast is 1,500 yen. I went there once in autumn and winter, and the food has not changed. If you are staying consecutively or going there for the second time, it is recommended to inform the owner in advance, and they will update some dishes for you. The room is a bit old and the public bathroom on the first floor is not open. If you have a car at night, it’s very convenient to go to Shinei-no-oka to watch the stars!"
"The room is a bit old without air conditioning, the door can be opened and the fan can be used to attract the air-conditioning in the hall, the tatami and the pillow are old, but the proprietress is very friendly, and the dinner is very good value for 200 yen."
"One of the best onsen I must say. It’s very very near Shirahige Falls about 5 minutes walk in thick snow. But there aren’t any convenient shops or restaurants within reach. I guess you’ll need to drive. Limited public bus to reach the resort and it costs 660 yen. If you missed then you’ll need to get a taxi which cost about 8000 yen. We took the day trip around Biei which cost about 5500 per person to 8 locations around Biei and the last location you guess it right, it’s Shirahige fall. The tour bus driver very kind to drop us at the onsen resort
They served the best saisaki and breakfast. Be sure to get your stomach empty before you reach the premise for the dinner."
"Very beautiful accommodation environment, the master's intention can be seen in the details. The room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was Western-style, and Hokkaido milk was delicious. Just beside the Ken&Mary tree, walk to the Meilong Station for 30 minutes, take a taxi for 970 yen, and also fight for the first stop on the road. Staying for two days, the first day happened to have a navel offering in Furano, so I rushed to Furano. After the event, I took the last JR car back to the United States. Before the departure, ask the landlord about how to call a taxi at night. The landlord told us that if there is no car, you can call Mr. Fang to drive to pick up. Unexpectedly, after leaving the station at night, there are still many taxis waiting outside the station, which is very pleasant. On the last day, take a taxi to Asahikawa Airport and the fare is 3,130 yen, which is acceptable."
