I’ve always wanted to visit Sapporo, Hokkaido, I finally got the chance to this December. I always try to stay at Bonvoy/ Marriott properties however the location in Sapporo city was booked, so I chose Eniwa. While it’s not in the city, the location is great. The hotel is located a short taxi ride from the train that connects the city with the airport. You can get to the hotel within 15 to 20 minutes from the airport or the city. The taxi ride to the hotel trol the station is about $10 US. Now onto the hotel, the hotel. First and foremost, the staff. The staff was amazing, I felt like I was at a five star hotel., they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The hotel itself is very new, the rooms are a little on the small side but very comfortable and immaculate. The bed was perfect, great pillows and sheets, I slept like a baby every night. Another thing that I loved about the hotel, during the winter most hotels in Japan turn off their air conditioning systems, us foreigners can’t handle the stuff rooms, now sure how the Japanese can. Fortunately, they leave their AC on year round! Thank you Fairfield Eniwa for a perfect stay! I can’t wait to visit again.

There are three rooms in total, the living environment is good, but the sound insulation is not very good, other guests go up and down the stairs very loud, the outside of the house is JR, the noise is relatively large. Common three toilets and one bathroom.
If it is not very convenient to go to the new Chitose Airport in the morning, it takes about 5 minutes to walk to the JR station, but there is no direct bus to the airport in the morning. You can change the airport express line at Chitose Station or Chitose South.
The hotel, which is a few minutes' walk from JR station, is convenient for those who need to get to the airport early or who arrive late and want to find a decent place to sleep. AEON department store/supermarket and convenience stores are nearby. The room is clean enough but dated. There are only one or two sockets in the room and none by the bed, which does not meet the needs of tech-savvy travellers.
Breakfast is average. There seems to be a standard selection, but the quality of the various items varies and some are disappointing. The best items were the pastries, freshly baked in front of the guests.
Meant to be an overnight stop before early morning fight from Chitose airport so not having high expectations to begin with.
Reception staff not very friendly when checking in. When requesting to book a taxi to the airport, insisted that we book 2 taxis due to 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 luggages, empty golf bag, long box for golf driver and small carton, despite we just came in a normal Toyota Prius taxi with the same passengers and luggages + packages in toll from Chitose airport. It was after some debate that the receptionist relented and informed us will book a bigger taxi. Cost is the same for small or big taxi so why insists on 2 taxis to begin with when I explained we got to the hotel fine in just a normal sized taxi.
Likes: Hotel allows you to choose the type of pillow you would like - there is a rack on display at the hotel lobby and you can just take what you prefer! Good choices too - e.g. down pillow, sponge pillow etc. JR Inn Chitose is very centrally located just next to the Chitose JR Station. There are two 7-Elevens just outside the hotel - very convenient for buying breakfast items which you can then microwave back at the hotel on Level 2. There is also an indoor hot bath on Level 2 of the hotel. There is free parking on site if you have a car. The room is very clean, about the size of other Japanese hotel rooms. Toilet is Japanese-size but very clean and well appointed. Disliked: Breakfast option at the hotel is very limited. There is a Yayoi restaurant next door to the hotel and connected by an internal door. From early morning, the Yayoi only serves hotel guests and it has a basic breakfast set menu for 900 yen. Price is ok but the set doesn't taste so good. Can try once but after that you may probably prefer 7-Eleven!
The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the Chitose station, which is 15 minutes and 2 stations from New Chitose Airport. Reception is friendly and efficient. The room is clean and comfortable and absolutely very good value for money. Downstairs is a restaurant, and although everything is in Japanese, it can quite easily be mastered with the present day’s apps for translation. The service is very friendly and the price is more than good. We had several lovely dishes and a lot of cold beers and were still surprised how modest the bill had run up. In the morning a shuttle bus to the airport is offered at various time intervals, it takes you there in about 15 minutes. Excellent place to stay in its class.
