"This was my first stay at this hotel. It's conveniently located near the station and an outlet mall, about a 5-10 minute walk away, mostly on flat ground. However, there aren't many convenience stores nearby; the closest option is a supermarket that's open until 11 PM, which is quite handy.
Upon check-in, the front desk informed us that check-in was between 11 AM and 3 PM, but we could already hear vacuuming noises as early as 9:30 AM.
**Room:**
The room was quite cramped, barely allowing enough space to open two 28-inch suitcases. The bathroom had good ventilation and was very clean. The soundproofing, however, could be improved. We could clearly hear people walking or talking in the corridor, and even the cleaning staff when they were on the same floor. The TV remote control was quite dusty, and the reception between the remote and the TV was poor. The air conditioning unit was located above the bed and was reasonably quiet. The hallways had low ceilings and were quite dim.
**Local Area/Activities:**
There are numerous restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter is also accessible with about a 20-minute walk.
**Safety:**
I had some concerns regarding safety. The public bath could be accessed without a card, and the doors to both the men's and women's baths were frequently left open.
**Walkability:**
A supermarket is conveniently located about 5 minutes away on foot. Kurashiki Station is a 5-8 minute walk, and it's easily accessible not only by road but also via a connecting pedestrian bridge, which is very convenient. Ario Kurashiki and Mitsui Outlet Park Kurashiki are both within a 10-minute walk.
**Dining:**
There's a dining area located on the lobby floor, and breakfast can be purchased separately. Snacks and drinks are available for ¥200 each. Additionally, near the front desk, there's a self-service area offering daily essentials and green tea powder.
**Important Notes:**
The large public bath is not a natural hot spring (onsen). The changing room is quite small, with only about 10-12 lockers, 3 vanity stations, and 4 shower stalls. The shower water pressure was a bit low, and the water temperature was inconsistent. The bath itself was also quite shallow. It is open 24 hours. There is one massage chair available for guest use. There's only one elevator, which is not very spacious, leading to longer waiting times. Rooms only have two door hanger options: 'refill towel' or 'please clean,' which must be placed outside the door before 11 AM for service. Self-service laundry and drying facilities are available."
"Nice cozy hotel with a lot of benefits but some space for improvement. Breakfast is okayish, matress is fine, location couldn't be better.
Other positives:
Attentive staff, great lounge on the roof floor with tea and coffee available, laundry with congestion monitoring, someone will appreciate local alcohol tasting. The lighting in the room is soft. Great japanese robes in the room!
Negatives:
-Youtube in TV constantly freezes
-Opening hours of most facilities are upsetting. Don't understand why you can't access this facilities most of the day.
Why you can't play pool or workout in the gym until 3 p.m.?
-Female onsen is worse, than men's. How so? No sauna, no Dyson fans for women. And can you please place any type of clock in onsen. If you ask people to leave at midnight, they better know how long until midnight.
-Only three bicycles for rent and they are not well maintained, have a lot of rust, make squeaking noises and so on.
-Sadly, the gym does not deliver. Can you please at least add some more heavy dumbells and add a pull up rack.
Overall it was a pleasant stay. I really wish they would fix these minor issues."
"We stayed in a family room with my elderly mother, and although there were four beds, there was a living area and the space was spacious, so we were able to enjoy ourselves in the room.
My mother also broke her leg a few months ago and was walking with a cane, so we asked in advance if we could borrow a wheelchair and were able to borrow one from check-in to check-out. Thanks to this, we were able to stroll around Kurashiki's beautiful streets and eat delicious sweets, which was very appreciated.
The large public bath was also flat and easy for my elderly mother to use, and it felt good to be in a large public bath for the first time in a while, so we took a bath twice, once in the evening and once in the morning.
My younger sister had stayed at Ivy Square on a school trip a long time ago, so she also had a nostalgic feeling about it.
The plan also included breakfast, so we had breakfast, and there were Okayama specialties such as seared Spanish mackerel and mackerel sashimi lined up, so we enjoyed local gourmet food from the morning.
After the meal, we ordered some take-out coffee and sat on a bench in the courtyard, enjoying a delicious coffee moment surrounded by the ivy-covered historic building.
Although our stay was short, thanks to the thoughtfulness of the hotel staff, we were able to have a safe and enjoyable trip with my elderly mother.
Thank you very much."
"The service attitude is very good, with staff who can speak basic English and fluent Mandarin. The free ramen and ice cream were delicious. The hot spring facilities are beautiful and very satisfactory. Moreover, it is very convenient to go to Kurashiki Amano. After checking into the hotel, you can meet all your needs by walking. The room has a view of the Kurashiki Bikan area, which is beautiful."
"I always stay here when I stay in Kurashiki.
The location is good near the Bikan District, and the size of this room is not desired in other hotels, there is a feeling of cleanliness, I love the atmosphere of the restaurant Hachimanzo, and I will stay again."
"It is near the Kurasaki Bikan Historical Quarter, so it is good for exploring the Bikan Historical Quarter, but it is a bit far from Kurasaki Station, so it takes about 15 minutes on foot.
It is old, but well-maintained, and the breakfast is delicious, although it does not have many varieties.
It is a decent hotel for a one-day stay."
"The hotel is nice and the room was clean (except for the long black hair left all over floor in the bathroom). The breakfast is just a sandwich box, there is no coffee (just instant coffee). I would expect better.
The staff is not accommodating and never seems to be in a good mood. I was also asked several times to pre-check online. After the third email reminder, I tried and the system didn’t let me complete it. But you can be sure that when I showed up at the reception that is the first thing they asked. Why don’t you have a QR code?
Also, they charge you for lockers. I have never been in an hotel where luggage storage wasn’t complementary.
The experience could be different if they improve a few things."
"Used for a business trip to Okayama.
I rented a car from Okayama Airport, so I chose Toyoko Inn as a hotel with a parking lot. However, because the height of the rental car was over 155cm, I parked at the affiliated ”Marugo Parking Lot” (affiliated price 600 yen from 18:00 to 10:00 the next day).
The hotel is within a 5-minute walk from Kurashiki Station, so it's not a problem to travel by train. There is a convenience store next door, and Kurashiki Center Town is behind it, so there are no problems with eating or shopping.
Only a toothbrush set is provided in the room, and other amenities are located in front of the front desk on the first floor. The room is a typical business hotel, but personally I thought the bed was the best (hard).
The only drawback is that the breakfast venue is right in front of the front desk, and there are few seats. In anticipation of this, in addition to the plates, there are plastic trays for lunch boxes so that you can take them back to your room. They also served Okayama's specialty ”Ebimeshi”, which was very satisfying.
The ladies at the front desk were very kind and helpful, so I would like to stay here again."

Outstanding
RRThe accommodation exceeded my expectations!!
I was satisfied with everything from the size, cleanliness, style, and location! I recommend that anyone staying at this accommodation make sure to plan a long stay!
The only thing to note is that they don't provide pajamas.
LLafengdekenandaoerThe location is in the beautiful area, and some net red shops in the beautiful area are very close. Living in it can enjoy the noise of the day and the silence of the night.
The only fly in the ointment is that the room is on the second floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. If you want to get up at night, there are some inconveniences because the stairs are a bit steep.
Also the hotel offers free parking, very friendly for self-driving people. 8
GGuilhermeThe location of the hotel is incredible! It is just beside the main station exit. The place was in pristine condition, very spacious and the staff extremely polite.
The only down side is that it doesn't have a restaurant in which you could have breakfast. There are alot of great places to eat nearby but that would be a bonus.
GGuest UserIt was close to perfect with all the necessary amenities and friendly front desk staff.
There are some vibrations from passing trucks as others have mentioned, but it wasn’t too bad, didn’t bother me much.
Right next to a supermarket.
MM372103****It is suitable for a room to live alone, because it is just a tatami. If you want a family to live, you have to remove the blankets, tables, and chairs. You have to remove the quilt cover and other products from the cabinet. It is not convenient to spread it yourself, and the space is too small. There is a bathroom inside and the bathroom is separated. This is better, there is also a kitchen, the overall space is suitable for one or two people, the luggage has to find an extra place to store, the room can be put at two o'clock
GGuest UserThe location is very comfortable, you can also change light food during your stay, opposite the whole family, next to the supermarket, a great place to stay
GGuest UserSmall chill hotel, 4min from the train station, free dinner in there evening.
Booked this place because I wanted to go see the nearby bridge view - the hotel had great last minute availability and a free dinner after a day of sightseeing was a welcome surprise!
I went to Kurashiki next morning and the direct bus leaves from a bus stop 2min away from the hotel - super convenient.
