It is an inn located a little far from the Matsunoyama Onsen town. It is an inn of a member of the association that protects the secret hot springs of Japan. The main building is said to be a registered tangible cultural property, and it is a quaint wooden building. Walking down the corridors and stairs, you will hear a nostalgic sound of ”miss”. Not everything is old, and the shared toilets and washrooms are new and clean. I was expecting a bath because it says ”secret hot spring” ... The bath crosses the corridor and is located in the ”new building”. It's far. Also, since it is a reinforced building, it has no taste like the main building at all. Perhaps because of the corona, the futon is laid out in advance, so the desk is cleaned up on the side, and the room feels small. The large and medium baths are men and women exchanged, and they change before and after dinner. If you don't take a bath at least once before dinner, you'll lose either. In addition, there are few washing places in the middle bath, and there is no drainage groove near the faucet which seems to have been extended later, and the shampoo and soap flow as it is to the washing place around it, and it feels a little disgusting. The family bath is not watered, so it's very hot, but if you want to enjoy the source, I would like to take it once during my stay. The food was delicious mainly with wild plants.
At Setoguchi, guests can refresh in the indoor public hot-spring baths and use free Wi-Fi at the public areas. Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests and free parking is available. JR Echigo Tazawa Train Station is a 15-minute drive away. The air-conditioned rooms come with tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each room has low tables with seating cushions and green tea sets. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. Drink vending machines are on site and photocopying services are offered at the front desk. Luggage storage is available as well. A Japanese set meal is served for breakfast and a traditional multi-course meal for dinner. All meals are served at the shared dining room, which features a traditional Irori hearth. Setoguchi Ryokan is a 10-minute drive from Kiyotsu Gorge and a 15-minute drive from Nakasato Kiyotsu Ski Resort. JR Echigo Yuzawa Train Station is a 25-minute drive away.
I didn't rent a car on this trip, so I wasn't sure if I should stay at an inn near the station, but I'm glad I chose this inn because they also picked me up from the station. There are various dishes using local seasonal ingredients for rice, and alcohol has progressed. When I come back and look at the photos from the trip, I remember wanting to eat it again. I visited in autumn and had various mushroom dishes, but they were delicious, so I wanted to try the wild vegetable dishes in spring. The inn was very nice, the bath was good, and I was able to spend a very comfortable and relaxing time. I looked it up on the web before my trip, and it seems that several inns at Matsunoyama Onsen are working together to develop local cuisine, create an information website, invite famous chefs, and so on. I came back thinking that such an atmosphere is everywhere and creates a good feeling.

There are 5 private baths for the number of rooms, so I stayed enthusiastically. Matsunoyama Onsen is said to be one of the three major medicinal hot springs in Japan. Also, because it is a geopressure hot spring, the seawater trapped 12 million years ago is erupted by the pressure of the earth, so the salt is thick like seawater. The expected baths were lined up on the same side of the corridor. That means that the view is almost the same. There were two hanging water sources, and three were circulation filtration + hanging water. I don't usually enter circulation filtration, so I ended up taking two baths. The wide open-air bath is surrounded by the surrounding inns and can be seen round, so women can wear bathing clothes, but it felt a little uncomfortable. The narrow open-air bath has a unique smell that can be said to be the zakaku yakuyu and the salt concentration of seawater, so I feel that it seems to be effective for something. Well, when I write about the room, there is a semi-double bed in Simmons, and it is comfortable with a simple modern interior. It is a little disappointing that the view was an inn opposite the town side. While the room had a luxury feeling, there was a side that lacked luxury feeling. For example, on the shelf of the yukata, it says, ”Yukata is up to one person”, and there is no sock sock. Also, if the bath is for sale, for example, if you can use two bath towels per person, you will feel a sense of luxury suitable for your room. In that sense, I got the impression that it was a little sloppy. I think it's better not to be creepy in a strange place because the unit price can rise. As for the meal, it is delicious overall, but I hope you don't bring warm dishes from the beginning. The main Tsumari pork dishes were also lit first. I want to enjoy the food slowly with sake.I want to eat cold appetizers and sashimi first, and then enjoy warm grilled fish and tempura. However, the order you bring is almost the same. It was good that local sake was local and you could order each glass, but I wanted you to think about the order of cooking a little more. By the way, the dishes made by wrapping Tsumaari pork hamburger steak with meat and wrapping it in paper with vegetables were excellent. I think it should be a specialty dish of the inn here. The sake is delicious at the private room restaurant, so I think it would have been great if you could think about the overall flow. I thought it would be nice if you could do your best a little more, so I dared to give 4 points of dryness. Finally, it cost nearly 5000 yen if you take a taxi from Matsudai Station, so if you use public transportation, you are recommended to go by bus, although the number is small.
