"This was my second visit here, and this time I brought my parents along. However, this stay was less enjoyable. The main reason was that the swimming pool, which was exclusive to guests during my previous visit, was open to outside visitors this time. As a result, the pool was quite crowded, and it was hard to move freely when trying to swim. Other than that, everything else was perfectly fine."
"Room was clean but could still be cleaner. Breakfast for a small chalet type hotel was good. Hotel has no restaurant, pool, bar etc, so if you want a beachfront hotel simple simple plain holiday, it's actually quite good. But the sofa in the room sinks to the floor so we have to ask for 4 extra pillows to sit on. They should throw the sofa away as junk, quite frankly. The beach was quiet and nice. Staff service was good."
"A great place to stay in Cherating 🏝️🩵 the staff are very friendly and helpful, feels welcomed. The room is very clean and spacious. The view from the balcony of Villa 115 is so beautiful. Definitely will come again."
"first ever trip to cherating and decided to give this place a try despite mix reviews by experienced guest. here's my take:
we are 6 pax staying at the forest semi detached villa with private pool. the resort is indeed old already and need proper maintenance. insects are plenty in the jungle so repellent is a must to bring. hotel cleanliness is not up to my expectation - for the price we paid for this 3d2n trip. the private pool is nice, but needs a proper cleaning at the pool water. staff attitude is great. hotel breakfast is slightly above average as well, considering the location at cherating where food options are rather limited dining out."
"Pros:
- The hotel is clean
- The villa was surrounded by greenery, and surprisingly, there were no mosquitoes at night
- Each room has a dedicated parking spot (though there was some confusion upon arrival, we have to park at public parking first then after check in only move to the reserved parking. )
- Water park looks good
Cons:
- Facilities are very old
- Bed springs were noticeable and uncomfortable.
- Bathtub had visible cracks.
- Showerhead and towel bar were rusty.
- Beach area had overgrown grass.
- Breakfast staff were unfriendly.
- Food was average."
"This was our second stay at the hotel with my family, and I noticed quite a few changes. The swimming pool is now very close to the beach, most likely due to the monsoon season affecting the shoreline.
The food selection was disappointing with very limited variety, and honestly, not worth the price. However, I did enjoy the location — it feels private and away from the crowds, which is a plus.
The room itself was fairly clean, but the TV channels were limited, and there was no iron or hair dryer provided. For the price, it didn’t feel like good value, but for 3 adults and 2 kids, it was acceptable overall."
"PRO
Hotel location walking distance to beach and close to popular dining places & cafes. Helpful & Attentive staff.
CONS
This is an aging hotel and the maintenance can`t catch up as the years progresses. Our first night was terrible when we found out that the bed is full of bed bugs. The next morning they apologised for the issue and we were transferred to a new room. There always old marks & old stains on the bedsheet, blankets, toilets, walls but might be acceptable for some. No phone in the room, you have to call using your own phone if you want to reach the front counter. Breakfast 2.5/5. Again cleanliness is the issue, bowls, plates, you will find some particles in them. And the food is just average and cold.
OVERALL : Just ok, below my expectation.
WILL I RETURN? : Maybe no"
"I was very satisfied with my stay at Tanjung Inn Cherating. The location is excellent, with plenty of cafés and shops within walking distance, and the property connects directly to the beach. The only downside is that the hotel is on higher ground, so getting to the beach means walking up and down a sandy path without proper stairs. Service was generally good, and I found WhatsApp to be the fastest way to reach staff — when I reported a plumbing issue, it was fixed immediately after I texted. Amenities are thoughtful, like the mosquito repellent provided in the room, though the water dispenser was broken and housekeeping doesn’t clean daily or replenish water unless requested. Despite these small inconveniences, the atmosphere is peaceful, the surroundings are charming, and it feels like a great place to slow down and enjoy Cherating. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I would happily return."
