Checked in, had to pay immediately which is unusual..small room for 2 and very very basic, a/c blowing smelly air on my head and immediately I felt it was going to be a difficult stay. Asked to be moved to what turned out to be the honeymoon suite. Again super-basic for 120rm extra per night but good size for elderly mum and I sharing a king bed (quilt was queen?). One towel each, no face towel, one floor mat. Aware that daily room clean is available but had read of things going missing for other visitors so abstained - no safe. No breakfast and no real facilities to cook for yourself. Really? Town is only a 5 minute drive but for every meal, it’s a big drag. We brought fruit back to our room as there is a little fridge. Room interior needs serious upgrade as it’s dark, dreary and a bit spooky at night. Some silly villa design features: - open wardrobe in path of one bedside means you keep hitting your head on the hangers on the way to your side of the bed - same bedside had no light of its’ own - hardwood bed corners need to be marked so we don’t keep hitting our toes at night - a shower curtain would stop the whole bathroom floor and toilet getting wet every time one has a shower - the outdoor balcony steps are so steep and close to barrier that if you lost your footing in the poorly-lit outdoor area, you’d fall right over the balcony side. - nowhere to put bath items needed when showering - a little shelf wd do. Front desk staff are helpful where they are able to be, but place felt a bit lifeless, esp. as there is no communal eating area. No faulting the spectacular settings but forget dipping your feet in the water nearby let alone having a swim. Barbed wire and preventative rock embankments (newly installed according to my mum who visited at least twice before - 2011 and 2017) sully the desire to cool off or to really immerse yourself in the setting. To be fair, it is a natural spring that provides fresh water to the people of Taiping so won’t argue on that front. Saw monkeys, butterflies, snake-shaped fern, huge millipede, multivaried greenery. This place has so much potential but it feels as if we are discouraged from enjoying the natural surrounds as much as we’d like…a bit ‘shut shop’. The really generous part of our stay was the jungle and it’s teeming life.
Great care is taken to ensure guests experience comfort through top-notch services and amenities. Remain linked during your visit by utilizing the complimentary internet access available.Parking is accessible, supplied by the hotel for guests who arrive by car. The hotel is completely smoke-free. Snack vending machines operate around the clock, providing you with easy access to treats regardless of the hour.
Stayed here for 3 nights in room 12. Generally, the hotel is clean, and for a budget hotel reasonably maintained. Like most budget hotels, a little TLC would not hurt. The room has no window or any natural ventilation. I could see some mould on the ceiling of the room and on the shower pipes. I could smell damp the moment I entered the room, but given the Malaysian MCO situation, it was acceptable. The bed, towels and sheets were clean, but in real need of replacement. The mattress cover was badly stained, although I thought it smelled clean. The hand towel was in a deplorable state, virtually falling apart as my photos show. The bed was okay and about par for a budget hotel. There was also a pair of flippers supplied, which I would’ve only used in the most desperate of situations (look at the photos). There was AC in the room, but I found it unreliable. In the main, it works. Sometimes it blows cold air as expected, other times it blows lukewarm air. It was more noticeable because I was stuck in the room most of the day due to the aforementioned MCO. Otherwise I would've been out sightseeing and therefore less of an issue. The reception has drinks and snacks, at reasonable prices. The reception is also manned all the time as far as I could tell. The staff are professional, courteous and do a good job of keeping the hotel clean. Location wise, Axis Hotel is pretty much in the middle of Taiping where most of the Heritage trail and attractions are. The Taiping Lake Gardens is about 1km walk away. Overall, I had a reasonable stay at the hotel. The facilities are fine for the price paid. The facilities are about what's expected. The thing that really let the room down was the damp in the room and toilet/bathroom. Otherwise, I would’ve given the hotel another star.
We’re greeted by friendly staffs even though we checked in quite late. The SOP of the hotel was well carried out with the temperature machine, QR code, and automatic hand sanitiser. The place was super clean & comfortable. The elevator was modern & fast too. The hallway of the room was clean, the exterior of the hallway as well as the room numbers on the wall was very nice. I really like that. The “do not disturb” and “make up my room” sign was operated by a switch inside the room which was nice! The room was REALLY clean, comfortable, well-organized. The beds, blankets & pillows were so soft, comfortable. Air-conditioner was working well. The tv has a few interesting, nice channels. The toilet was clean, floor wasn’t slippery at all. And I really enjoy the showers at the wall & on the ceiling as light shows up when I turned it on. That made me really happy while showering! 😂 The shampoo & bath gel was super nice to use. Thank you so much for the friendly welcome, the clean, comfortable room. I stayed here for 2 days 1 night but it was SO worth it. Will definitely come back!
My wife and I recently made our way to Taiping which was where she grew up. This trip was therefore akin to a post-pandemic pilgrimage of sorts to revisit her roots. We had high expectations and the Flemington Hotel did it's part to deliver on an overall good experience. Wendy Yong, the Front Desk Manager was generous with her time and very hospitable. The hotel was slightly weathered by time but the customer experience and location by the Lake Gardens was superb. It was also within walking distance of a range of hawker fare. I'd recommend a lake-facing room for an excellent view.
A very cosy + comfortable boutique hotel just 300m from the famous Taiping Lake Gardens. Location doesn't get better than this if you're in town for a holiday as it's minutes away from some of the key tourist attractions in town. Rooms are comfortable, price is also very fair. Highly recommended!
The reason i choose the hotel was the price, base on some pictures in Agoda. Was throughly happy with my choice! The basement parking is proper and has good spacing. They use card system to go to respective lift, not common to many hotels in Taiping.. safe and secure.. My room, room 615 (probably the cheapest..im sure they have much bigger room) was good for 1 or 2 person..with good air con, reliable wife and safe deposit box. Though it doesnt have clothes cupboard, there are some hanging spaces to hand clothes. The bed is good with god pillow. The sound proof is acceptable, though the corridor sound can be heard, at least no sound fron the main road to the room. The lining (bed sheet and towels) are crisp ans clean too. The unit doesnt have small fridge, iron board and cuttle but they have all these facilities near the lift. There are 2 complimentary drinking water in the room, with 2 packet of local coffee too. In term of location, it is right smack in front of Tesco amd besides Tesco, therw is a mall called Taiping Mall that has everything inside, including Watson, Starbucks, Texas Chicken and even Family Mart. If thats not enough for u, there is AEON Mall about 700-900 meter away..that has TGV. The lake garden ia about 5 KM away i assume. Overall, i can recommend this hotel for everybody who is on a budget, that islooking for a decent stay/transit stay in Taiping.
i would say this hotel has so much potential to become a great hotel, from a mediocre hotel it is now. The location is perfect.. within the vicinity of the famous Taiping Lake Garden but towards Bukit Larut. Though it is bit out of the main road, it is still good reach by vehicles. Or if u stay without vehicle, u still can call for Grab for food. etc. I saw an archery field at the back of the hotel. And i know, nearly there is a waterfall area. In front of this property, there is another equally interesting looking accommodation called Kamal Lodge that i can clearly see from my room Room 204. My room, though a Standard Room, was adequately furnished, though the aircond was OK OK only prolly because they use 1hp aircond, for a relatively big room. The towel though clean, was already old and time to change it. Breakfast was additional RM25 though i didnt take it, but i saw the restaurant was big and welcoming. The lobby i thnk, can be further improved. Prolly, u guys can provide bicycle renting service etc to the guest. Maybe they have, i didnt asked. I just wish the lobby and the lift have more soft touch to make the guest more..welcomed? But the lobby staffs were courteous and friendly and accommodating as i need to borrow their phone charger for a while. some newer hotel stayed already have the USB plug in the room though. anyway, i still want to recommend this place for families..as their pool look interesting for kids..though the water looked bit murky. and the big room of course. But ya i want to come back in the future to check on their progress!

PPixieMunWe loved and enjoyed our stay here. Location - nearby the lake garden, town centre and eateries, all within walking distance. Building - don't judge by the looks outside. Reception - lovely, friendly and helpful staff which made our stay memorable. Room - big, clean with basic amenities. It is a simple hotel run by nice hotel employees.

Aahmad zakiA few improvements need to be upgrade for guests comfort....there is no dustbin in the room only in the bathroom....no hooks or rack to hang clothes , towel ...
OOliveGohRoom is quite spacious. Bed is firm and comfortable. Towels are a good size and plush. In dire need of new paintwork, thorough cleaning and maintenance. The whole place feels grimy especially the carpet, the window latch is broken so the noise from outside seeps in, air cond is not cold enough and there are stains on the walls and in the toilet. Some weird details such as no latch on the bathroom door so it cannot close securely from inside the room, roller blinds instead of curtains (which is cut so narrowly it just barely covers both sides of the window). It is next to the train track and an elevated expressway so traffic noise in the middle of the night can be disturbing, particularly with a broken window latch. Not as near as expected to Taiping lake gardens; it's about 10 minutes drive. Wouldn't stay again since there are many other nearer, better hotels around.
EeddymayaMy lovely wife and I spent two nights at this hotel when visiting Taiping. It's an OK place to stay for a couple of nights. The rooms are small & fairly simple but have most everything you need - a comfy bed, air conditioning, a kettle, a reasonably hot shower. A chair at the desk would be a useful addition, as would a mini fridge. As many other reviews have mentioned, there is no elevator at the property so be prepared to climb the stairs. Our room was on the amusingly named floor 3A, which is basically the 4th floor but I guess they just don't like to admit it. To be fair, rooms on higher floors are a little bit cheaper so you are rewarded for your efforts! We paid RM88 plus tax per night for a standard double which makes it a reasonable budget option. Just don't expect any frills.
RRobertxRobotWe stayed here for 2 nights for an event. I loved the location, very near to walkable convenience stores, local eateries for day and night, night market, morning market and the Taiping Lake Garden. There are a few private parking lots in the hotel. Rooms are basic, TV was not working during our stay there and no breakfast provided as it's a small hotel.
NNature Lover68The Perak Museum is situated in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. It is the oldest museum in Malaysia and highlights the history of the state. A well kept museum which is a great place to learn about our history, culture and heritage. Admission fee is RM2 for adult and the knowladge you get was priceless.
JJeeva d ExplorerWell maintained Zoo Taiping with many kinds of animals. Slowly take a walk around the zoo to explore and take photos with spectacular views. There are animals which only can see at night in Night Safari.
