Myself and my 4 year old son stayed here for a weekend, and it was fantastic! We received excellent communication from the front desk via email as we arrived after check in, which meant we could get straight up to our room upon arrival. It's in a great location, and has modern, clean, fresh décor and super friendly staff. The bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and A/C. There was plenty of extra bedding in the cupboards too which meant you could change the sheet for a duvet if the weather suddenly changed. The breakfast was a good price, and great continental selection; my son ate everything in sight, and they even went above and beyond to make him pancakes as a treat! There was an honesty bar available throughout the day too for any quick snacks or drinks which was reasonably priced. There's a local grocery shop, pharmacy, café and restaurants all 5mins walk away too which is so useful when travelling with children. Sintra itself was beautiful, my son loved the views, visiting Quinta da Regaleira and spotting the 'castles!' on top of the hills. Do be aware Sintra has a micro climate so the weather can be breezy and cooler than expected! Thank you to all the staff and friendly guests for making us feel so at home, and 100% recommend this lovely hotel.

Quiet and super comfortable bed & room with a Scandi touch. Lovely abundant breakfast and great care for every detail, including dietary requirements. The honesty basket with wine and treats is very cute - they close reception at 10pm at the moment. Great for a proper solo/couple switch off and rest from travels & the big city! Loved the fact there’s no TV anywhere and the WIFi is fast. I’d chose it again for remote working in the winter sun with the ocean right there. The cliff walks are abundant, great value in the local restaurants (I’ve been to Água e Sal three days in a row!!) and of course fascinating Sintra nearby. If you’re looking for scenic drives by the ocean and exploring the region, yes it’s best to have a car, but for a proper switch off, it’s fine with bus and train also - the staff knows it all. Well worth it! 😊

Myself and my 4 year old son stayed here for a weekend, and it was fantastic! We received excellent communication from the front desk via email as we arrived after check in, which meant we could get straight up to our room upon arrival. It's in a great location, and has modern, clean, fresh décor and super friendly staff. The bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and A/C. There was plenty of extra bedding in the cupboards too which meant you could change the sheet for a duvet if the weather suddenly changed. The breakfast was a good price, and great continental selection; my son ate everything in sight, and they even went above and beyond to make him pancakes as a treat! There was an honesty bar available throughout the day too for any quick snacks or drinks which was reasonably priced. There's a local grocery shop, pharmacy, café and restaurants all 5mins walk away too which is so useful when travelling with children. Sintra itself was beautiful, my son loved the views, visiting Quinta da Regaleira and spotting the 'castles!' on top of the hills. Do be aware Sintra has a micro climate so the weather can be breezy and cooler than expected! Thank you to all the staff and friendly guests for making us feel so at home, and 100% recommend this lovely hotel.

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the start of March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is great: easy to find and a 3-minute walk from the main square in the historic centre but nonetheless in a very quiet area. We booked the ‘suite with private terrace and balcony’ which was huge and exactly as pictured on the website, clean and bright with lovely large windows and patio doors. Because the house sits on a hill, the room was at ground level at the front but at first floor level at the rear and it was reassuring that, I assume for security reasons, the windows accessible from the street could not be opened. The room had a large TV with Netflix available. Water pressure in the bathroom was very good and lovely soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided. (The only watch out is the water pressure can easily blow out the shower curtain, so water ends up on the bathroom floor. Still, you only make that mistake once.) The breakfast was buffet style and taken in the kitchen or the room next to it and it does feel like you’re in a family house. The food was lovely, with hot scrambled eggs, beans and sausages, along with coffee, juice, toast and pastries, cereals etc. available. They also make snacks, wine and beer available in the kitchen overnight and operate this on an honesty-book basis. This is really convenient if you’re really tired after a day of sightseeing. The host Karen was really welcoming, friendly and helpful, as was her assistant Bianca (who we saw most of as she seemed to be receptionist, housekeeper, chef, waitress etc, all rolled into one!) This is a guest house rather than a hotel so bear that in mind for the level of services - there’s no 24 reception for example. However Karen is accessible by WhatsApp and she replied quickly when we had a question about car parking on Saturday evening. We arrived by train (less than an hour from central Lisbon and dirt cheap - about €3) and the walk from the station is easy along pleasant roads and takes about 15 minutes. We got a hire car part way through our stay and used the car parking token (payable) from the guest house for parking in the Old Town. Even though visiting in low season, we were very lucky to find a space so plan carefully if you are intending to drive to the historic centre of Sintra. It’s also worth noting that Sintra has its own microclimate with relatively high humidity which means it can feel quite damp and there is often a lot of cloud and mist, even in summer. (Anyone with a respiratory condition might want to do some research.) Given the time of year we visited, this meant our room felt quite cold whenever we arrived but the air con unit was effective and warmed it up very quickly. Also, even though there is modern double glazing, there can still be some condensation on the windows in the morning so don’t leave things on the windowsill overnight as they could get damp. GGuest UserI did not expect to be so disappointed with my night in this guest house when I met the owner who was my faith very friendly. But for that price, the service was really horrible. A bed as hard as a stone bench, pillows surely found in Emmaus. The water of the cumulus which is connected on the three rooms of the house so huge variation of pressure and temperature when taking a shower/ bath. The room was infested with mosquitoes, I spent all my evening and a large part of my night to track pests because I am allergic to it, I warned the owner who gave me an anti mosquito bomb before telling me that there were no mosquitoes in the house (Something that is false because having lunch with other guests they lived the same night and were very disappointed. They did not understand the notes of the establishment and made fun of those who had left such lies). The soundproofing is horrible also we hear the owner who watches the TV downstairs, the other rooms but also the dogs of the neighbors who screamed all night and cherry on the cake, wake up at seven o'clock by the parakeets of the owner just below the room plus the TV that did not work. A little ashamed to ask for a positive review when you have such a ridiculous establishment that only serves to catch tourists who want a typical homestay stay instead of the coldness of a hotel. Let’s talk about breakfast, not fruit juice but a brick of ice tea coming out of the lidl, which products mark see below. All in all, when the owner of the establishment accepted us and advised us on the visits to be made the next day, it was chiquement apprété with a set of jewel worth in the 1000/ 1500 euros. A bit ridiculous such a gap between the appearance of the person and the quality of service offered for the three rooms. For the same price, I would have had access to a 4-star hotel with a buffet breakfast and the calm we would have liked to have seen the standing of your slum. Thank you however for the advice, only thing to remember from this stay, the talent of tourist guide of our host but absolutely not to receive. To avoid if you wish a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast. When we allow ourselves to beg for a review we must be irreproachable, otherwise we are ridiculous. If I wasn’t a rat I would have asked for a refund:)

VVincenzaLa camera è in realtà un grazioso mini appartamento con camera, bagno e cucina con buoni spazi a disposizione. Avrebbe bisogno di qualche lavoretto di manutenzione (la porta della doccia non chiude bene, pareti un po' rovinate, filtro del bagno cieco non pulito...)
La pulizia generale è buona, peccato solo per il pesante odore di fritto presente all'interno (non abbiamo capito se qualcuno avesse cucinato o se veniva dell'esterno, pur tenendo aperte le finestre non è andato via).
La host ci ha accolti con molta gentilezza parlando bene in inglese.
La posizione è molto comoda per raggiungere la zona centrale a piedi ma è assolutamente sconsigliato arrivarci in auto.
Pochi giorni prima dell'arrivo abbiamo ricevuto una mail da LovelyStay.com che ci informava che il centro storico è interdetto alle auto dei turisti e ci suggeriva una via vicina dove parcheggiare. La via in questione è stretta e con pochissimi parcheggi a bordo strada e impostandola sul navigatore non si trova.
Dopo oltre 3 ore alla ricerca di un parcheggio con code chilometriche abbiamo lasciato l'auto in stazione e pagato un taxi per arrivare alla struttura (c'è anche l'autobus che arriva nella piazzetta principale). Ovviamente il traffico congestionato non è colpa di chi gestisce la struttura ma ritengo che sia necessario informare meglio chi la deve raggiungere per evitare disagi. Pur essendo partiti con ampio anticipo da Lisbona abbiamo mancato l'ingresso a Quinta de Regaleira, che purtroppo non siamo riusciti a vedere, perdendo anche i soldi del biglietto per 2 persone.

FFrank DFirst, Sintra, Portugal isn't a great place to be if you don't like hill climbing to an extreme - unless you're going to bring a chauffeur along or use an electric bike or scooter. That said, Villas de Cintra is at the bottom of a STEEP hill with a road not open to public travel because it is barely wide enough for 1 vehicle. EVERY time you want to leave the property there is a steep hill to deal with. If you don't mind the hill, you will probably really like this place - and anywhere you stay in Sintra is on a hill or right by one. If not for the hill, I would have given a rating of 5 - and really 4.5 would be more accurate than 4. AND THE GOOD PART is that the staff are charming, helpful and would seem to go out of the way for anything you want within reason. Anyone should enjoy the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere here. One caveat: the office is open only 9 AM - 6 PM. Everything is squeaky clean - I like tile floors for that. It is attractively decorated and just gives off a good vibe. Up to date equipment all the way around is also a benefit. The kitchen is very compact, but has everything needed: microwave, stovetop, fridge, sink, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, towels. The little refrigerator/freezer unit isn't big, but is sufficient and cold and the separate top freezer is perfect. The heat & A/C unit is the best I've seen anywhere. Keeps the temperature right on the money and is easy to learn the control - not so different than many others, except this one works. Always plenty of HOT water and great water pressure. The patio and ”back yard” area is nicely lit after dark (until very late but not all night) without being overly bright. WiFi is good! There is a problem with no decent place to sit and work on your computer. The little desk doesn't have a nearby electrical outlet. The bar is quite nice, but the folding, metal barstools are AWFUL. The seat is too small by far - I'm not a big person (5'8 - 160#), but the sides of my legs hang over the defined edges of the seats and make sitting for any time painful. It is also necessary to use good shoes when sitting because the tiny bars as ”foot rests” are thin tubing that will just cripple sock or bare feet. It seems strange that after doing everything else so well they would get barstools like these... I did find a cushion that made the seat bearable. Overall, definitely recommended.

GGoldensForeverThis is a perfect little spot for being a few blocks to the center of Sintra, yet a little off as to not get all the noise. The hostess here, Dulce, is a very kind, caring woman. My phone fell into the sink and stopped working. I travel alone and had no information to my next place. Dulce took the time to sit with me, let me use her personal phone and assured me that everything would be okay. She did absolutely everything she could for me. This is the place you want to stay if you are traveling alone and need assistance within daytime hours. Not sure about night but I am confident they would help within their capability. Please note, the houses are very old and you can hear the people above you. There was an elephant staying above me so, PLEASE be aware of the people below when you walk across the room. Or ask for a top floor ~ all stairs. I also wish there was a small fridge in the room. Overall, an excellent place to stay with caring people there to welcome you and bid you farewell. I would highly recommend staying here if not having a fridge isn't an issue.

Also overlooking the main road. Saturday night we had dance music till 2am from the club next door. Sunday was laughing and shouting and then the street cleaning machines started up at 7am. Because the room had no a/c or fan we had to have the window open, which compounded the noise issue. Didn't get much sleep. No iron or kettle, weak wifi

The palace is interesting with moles and indian architecture, although there isn't much to see inside the house. __We***97Get off at Quezlue-Belas in the middle of the Sintra train, exit the station and exit to the right, go to the street, there will be signs, follow the signs, about 10-15 minutes to arrive.
