The front desk was not able to process my credit card and had our reservation a bit mixed up. Eventually the person called an off-site manager who was able to override the system and they then checked us in and were very apologetic. Be careful with choosing a cottage. Two of them faced a fairly busy street. The one they reserved for us faced that street, but we luckily were able to switch ours, but only to one that was more expensive. The cottage was comfortable as well as quiet.
Let me address the negatives first, yes it is near the tracks and you will hear the trains. This isn't necessarily the hotel's fault. The solution was just use ear plugs and it worked. The husband and I both slept very soundly. My husband was disappointed our balcony overlooked the lawn mower part store parking lot but I didn't care because we didn't plan on using it. The grounds were well kept. We didn't use the pool so I can't comment on that. Far as I have seen the staff are friendly and helpful. All amenities in our room worked and were in good condition and our suite was very clean. The furniture was in good condition, the mattress was firm but comfortable and no lumps or sagging bits. Linens were fresh and clean. There wasn't any dust on surfaces or grime. We were both impressed. The location is a quick walk to downtown or the UC Davis arboretum. The free breakfast is your usual cereals, yogurt and juice type things- but it's a 10-15 minute walk to some fabulous eateries in downtown Davis if you're in the mood for anything else. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for a night and wished we can stay for another. Finding the entrance was a little hard, it's right on the left hand side when you drive into the parking lot. Check in was a breeze. We were shocked on how spacious the studio king room was. With kitchen, sofa area and there a place to put your luggage near the bathroom. Spacious bathroom with vent! Multiple plugs everything. Very quiet at night. Will def. come here if we are nearby. Love the layout of the room. Feels very comfortable and spacious. They also have free breakfast, but we didn't get to try it. A small pool and a basketball court.
Room was clean and comfortable, good size room. I rated 4 stars because first day was noisy, I think were students having a good time on the next rooms but next night was quiet. We enjoyed being there. Was close to UC Davis and close to down town.
I've been in hotels of this segment across the US, this one a number of times, and can say without a doubt this is the nicest I've been for the price tag. - Spotless rooms! You can choose the cadence of your cleaning, but at the time they set you up the room is squeaky clean. - Great Breakfast. Not your usual breakfast bar. The management really puts an effort to offer you a very good breakfast. That is probably what I appreciate the most! - Friendly staff. Everyone is kind and helpful. The manager is an awesome lady who puts love into running this hotel. You can see it everywhere.
We needed a place to stay close to a campus event. This was so convenient, with ample parking and a quiet location. No town or partying noises. The rooms are spacious, with a bar/desk area, a living area and a bedroom, separated by a partial wall. We had a family member in the next room and it was easy for us to visit with each other in our room. Very nice. And we could walk to campus and the arboretum trail just behind the hotel. I would stay here again.
I am a customer who booked a room at the Vine Inn for two days in April, 2022. The stay was unpleasant due to unsatisfactory maintenance and terrible service there, and I will try to tell the story as objectively as possible: 1. Upon arrival, the parking lot was full. Their parking lot has approximately 14 spots for more than 20 units, so complimentary parking advertised on their website is not guaranteed. I was instructed by the front desk to park on the street. 2. Upon entering the room, there was an unwashed mug below the coffee maker with coffee stain on it. The room was recently remodeled so the overall quality is fine. Specifically, the TV was nice and new so I tried to turn the TV on but could not find the remote. I tried to call front desk but the telephone had no “front desk” label and neither was any instructions or labels nearby. I then walked to the front desk (~10-11PM) but it was locked down, so I went back to my room to do some work but there was no pen and paper provided in the room. 3. In the next morning, I received a ticket for parking on the street. The fine amount was 50 dollars. Then did I realize that from 8AM-6PM there is only 2-hour parking at downtown Davis, but these angled parking spots do not have signs at each spot like mostly everywhere else. The sign is ~100 feet away near the intersection so it is hard to be found at night. I was not informed by the front desk about limited street parking. 4. When I went to the front desk to file a complaint, I requested to talk with the supervisor and cancel the second night for staying with a full refund (yes, only the second night that I am not staying). I was told that the supervisor was not there today. I then requested the supervisor’s phone number to explain the issues and discuss a solution, but I was told that they cannot give me the phone number. I therefore requested the front desk to call the supervisor and pass on the message or make a decision on behalf of the supervisor, the request was also declined. I was told that I have to email the supervisor myself via their general info email address. At this point, it seems obvious that they do not want to resolve this issue at all. I did persist and send the email according to their suggestion, and I also attached my phone number and requested a phone call, but there is no surprise that I have never heard from them since then. I am writing this review four days or two business days after my stay. Below is my subjective opinion: the issues above were only minor issues and very easy to resolve, but the way they handled this showed how poor their service and management were. They could have canceled the second night and given me their hotel credit for one night’s worth or at least the equal fifty dollars for the parking ticket (even though everybody knows that I am never coming back), but they have chosen to waste 15 minutes of my life writing down this long review. If you are choosing to live at downtown Davis, just stay in

U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame
TTodemmyI really enjoyed this museum. I am a big fan of two-wheelers (and three-wheelers, etc) and this museum had some wonderful examples. Streamliners? Yes. Bamboo bikes? Yes. 6-man velodrome pacing bike? Yes indeed! (I'd love to ride that one). Lots of exhibits on three floors. If you enjoy bicycle history, this is a must-see while you are in town. If it's Saturday morning, you will be adjacent to the Farmer's market! Yum!
Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art
TTodemmyThis museum was so informative about the history of the indigenous Native American people who lived here before the land was taken over. This history is essential to understand, there are rooms you can sit inside, and many artifacts along with photos. I really appreciate museums that represent history with respect, there’s information about California history too.
Bohart Museum of Entomology
TTodemmyThere was quite a crowd at the beginning of the exhibit. The chronology and explanations were very informative and evocative of the horrors people endured as well as the courage many exhibited as well.
