The setting is lovely. The private beach is accessed down a very short path, there’s a couple of loungers and chairs and some shade. There’s a bit of snorkelling about 20 yards from the beach. We had a top floor apartment, with a stunning view across the bay. (No lift 2 flights of stairs) There’s air on in the bedroom but we just kept the windows open, there’s a bit of noise from the cockerel but noth8ng to worry about, and no other noise. Kitchen has what you’d need to cater for yourself. We ate breakfast there and an evening meal. Both good. It’s quaint and might benefit from a bit of an update, but it’s beautifully clean. Would happily stay again. Hance was really helpful and sorted out our hire car flat battery when we had a problem. Couple of good restaurants in easy drivin* distance. 5 minutes. There’s a lovely beach called Galloways on the Caribbean side. Go out of drive, turn right, then left down Galloway road. Go along till you see beach straight ahead, but turn left over bridge instead and carry on carefully down increasingly broken road, carefully, it’s about 30 minutes careful drive from Gems. When you get to end don’t go over rickety bridge go right and park up. Tip passed on by other guests. Gems is in a good location for deadman’s cay, Gordon’s beach and deans blur hole.
