The room smelled like cat pee, The furniture was chewed up and they added $120 foot an undisclosed fee

We got into our room and there were dirty socks on the floor. Also the vent was so loud it sounded like an airplane taking off, I’m guessing people don’t use the fan because of the sound so there was a ton of black mold in the bathroom. Our sheets had paint stains on them- I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I thought I was booking Americinn, a chain I am familiar with. The hotels are across a parking lot from each other. This America's Best Value Inn was a poor value for me. I booked two nights over a month in advance. I would have gone to another hotel if a room would have been available in the area. This hotel was dirty throughout. The lobby is very small. People were waiting outside to check in for lack of room in the lobby. My most significant concern was that the non-primary door at the end of the building farthest from the front entrance did not latch. That back entrance is obscured by large trees, it is not well-lit, and a second, dark parking lot of a closed business is situated there. Anyone can enter the hotel at will. I brought all my concerns to the attention of the front desk staff during different shifts. I was always assured pleasantly that they knew and that is just the way it is. If you book at an "America" hotel in Clear Lake at Exit 194 on I-35, be sure you get the right one.
