Staff were lovely, bringing me pot of tea and shortbread when room wasn't quite ready on check-in. Breakfast also better than expected, with fresh pastries and plenty of choice. Fixtures and fittings are quite shabby, as others have pointed out, but shower was good. Key drawback is it's a Grade II listed building, very coaching inn in style, and has zero soundproofing. At first, I thought noise from nearby pubs would be the problem, but in fact it was the couple in the room directly above who kept me awake till nearly 4am. Every door slam, sneeze, yawn, and the rest, carries. Unfortunately, this means I'd be unlikely to stay here again.
