I like staying at unique places that have character and don't look like every other hotel, and the Blackwell has plenty of character. Very cool place to stay. I was here on business however and did not know that breakfast isn't served until 9am prior to my stay, that would've been nice to know.

Lovely interior, friendly and helpful staff, ice machine was useful and plentiful. The bed was comfortable and I loved the historic feel of the rooms. Breakfast was delicious and the chef seemed to be flexible in cooking meals based on your preferences. I highly recommend

While searching for a place to stay while in town we stumbled across this place and we are so glad we did. Everything was outstanding from the charm of the hotel, the history, amazing staff, walking distance to everything and I could go on. We stayed on the third floor which we were notified could be a little warmer so no surprise it was. So next time we will stay on the 2nd floor since the 3rd is basically the roof level and the heat should be expected but this is not a ding on the hotel just what it is. We woke up every morning and walked to the lake and returned to a fresh breakfast of eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, hash browns etc. and a great staff. We will be back next time we are in town.

Very nice hotel, very well located. The room was absolutely charming and the bed comfortable although the bathtub was impractical. The only downside was that the included breakfast was served at 9 a.m. which is way too late in my opinion.

Guest should be informed that there will be no staff on the premises, especially if you are the only guest. Wifi and TV never worked even after informing staff that they would fix it. I booked 2 nights and canceled the second night as I didn't feel comfortable. The one positive is that Laurie made a nice breakfast and refunded my 2nd night without any fuss.

This place is beautiful! Friendly staff, lovely home and immaculately clean! I stayed two nights and will definitely be back asap. Great location, not far from DT. Would be a lovely place for a reunion in addition to wedding venue. Check it out!
