The best part of this was the staff. They were awesome and handles our complaints with dignity. But what else can you do when you aren’t the owner? This has been the worst stay I have ever had at ANY hotel and I’m a seasons world traveler used to “interesting” accommodations. My father is from this area, and we were in town for a family event. We didn’t check reviews as the Dutch Inn has always been above board even during times of recession. This stay, ummmm, has caused us to never return. To say this was the stay from hell, is an understatement. Here is why we will never return… To start, walking up the stairs to my room the hallway was littered with trash and has a full room trash can just out and about. Mind you we arrived at 2:50am… those halls should’ve been clean. When I saw that I said “what is going on here?” When I enters the room, the appearance was appalling. The bedspread has cigarette burns. The walls has writing. There was an enormous water crack in the wall. The floors…the filth of sticky film around sockets and the corner of the floors was nasty. My bathroom was not updated. The only cute thing was the original vintage tile of old Dutch scenery. But the scum on ghr tub floor, the hair on the tile walls and the faucets were broken. The tub was so bad I wouldn’t even get in WITH shower shoes. Also, there was NO hot water in my room or my parents rooms. We later learned the manager/owner regulates the hot water from an app from their phone. The fire alarm was also disassembled in my room. Final note - while my elder parents were sitting outside near the pool they witnessed a huge rat walking on the side walk like it was “home.” My parents were beyond unhappy. To light the candle to this horrible cake, the complaints from other guests were non-stop. While complaining to the front desk a guest checked out b/c vomit/sewage came up from the drain WHILE they were showering. Literally. While leaving today another guest mentioned to cleaning staff about a comforter was not on their room. Basically, save yourself and do not stay here. It breaks my heart to tell anyone to not stay here, and I have 40+ years of visiting. But this was horrible, disrespectful to the history of this building and honestly the community in which it has served for so many decades.
