My wife & I had the unfortunate experience to stay at this Hampton Inn. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and between businees and leisure travel of over 130 nights per year, I'd have to say this wasn't the absolute worst property I have stayed at but its close to it. First: the location is not bad as far as easy access on and off I-70 but its quite a bit east of Columbus and there isn't much around the immediate area as far as food or shopping selection. Second: Check in was a mixed up mess. The digital key didn't come through to my phone and when I arrived at the hotel about 6pm the Front Desk Manager told me the room I had picked wasn't available, in fact the entire 3rd floor wasn't available? Okay...no problem, I asked for an equivalent room and was given 223. Up to the 2nd floor and swiped the room card only to find it occupied by other guests. Back to the front desk and the staff member was apologetic but bewildered as to how this could be? Come on!!, I mean you don't know who is booked into your rooms?. I was given a room card for 229. We entered that room to discover a musty and dirty carpet, stains on the office chair, a broken base on the floor lamp and hair on the wall of the shower enclosure. The bathroom vanity has damage and the caulking was cracked and separated from the wall, the faucet is loose on the deck and the bathroom exhaust is non existant. I placed a torn piece of toilet paper against the grill and there was zero air flow. No doubt this isn't helping the musty smell in the room. As well there was no kleneex plus the shampoo and conditoner bottles were both empty. Back to the front desk to get the shampoo etc. Again the front desk person was apologetic and unsure how this happened. I used to manage a number of very large Commercial buildings in Toronto, New York, London and Chicago for 27 years so I tend to look at everything in my hotel rooms because the details are critical to a good guest experience. This hotel is absolutely run down and long over due for updates. It by no means meets proper "Hilton" standards let alone cleanliness from a health and safety perspective. Normally when I travel I look at the guest reviews before booking but because I've stayed at dozens and dozens of Hampton Inn's before I just expected the usual good standard that I usually enjoy. Unfortunatley not this time. I'd advise anyone thinking of staying here to think twice and read the all the reviews for themselves.
