Great

The hotel is cozy and familiy's friendly, the reception desk was friendly and welcoming, Fatima at the reception desk was great. The breakfast is intercontinental buffet and had a variety of options besides great taste, Dinner is A LA carte menu and the chef is exceptional. We didn't use the outdoor pool since it's so cold but the Spa and the indoor pool was pretty nice، the Jacuzzi was out of order. Overall the location and services was pretty much great definitely deserves another visit.

A relatively small hotel about a 15-minute drive from downtown Coimbra. The hotel is quiet and overall good. Good view of the pool and lawn.

Friendly hotel with good accommodation. Good breakfast, with a good offer and variety. The indoor pool is a very good experience, it's a shame the jacuzzi is out of order. There is a gym with half a dozen working machines. The staff were always attentive and friendly.

The SPA is really cool for those going with children. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location for those going to the ruins of conimbriga and the p.o.r.o.s museum.

We only stayed one night, but everything was perfect. Just to say that the restaurant at 10:15 p.m. was no longer serving dinner.

Decent-sized room, good-sized bathroom with a good shower. Good food, quiet at night--the location is fairly isolated. Our "King bed" was two remarkably firm twin mattresses pushed together, so sleep quality was not great.

Very comfortable renovated paradox. We stayed for 2 nights in room 110 which was situated on the ground floor with a terrace overlooking the garden. Very clean, firm but comfortable bed. Quiet and peaceful. Wish we had stayed longer. Very good selection at breakfast, plenty of choice with cereals, fresh fruit bread , eggs ,cheese etc. Would recommend Gavius restaurant. Other restaurants in walking distance. Roman ruins also within walking distance

I visited Portugal on a group tour that included stays at three pousadas. A big takeaway from my experience is that pousadas are remarkably variable. Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes was fantastic, and Pousada Castelo Palmela was okay but with some flaws. However, this one, Conimbriga Hotel Do Paço, was abysmal. I recommend you choose your pousada carefully; some are great, but some, such as this one, are bad beyond belief. The hotel itself is nothing special, and a massive disappointment after the delight of the first pousada I visited, Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes. This pousada claims to be originally a ‘manor house’, but it just looks like a tatty old house that’s had tacky modern hotel features crudely appended. Tattiness and dirtiness were everywhere. My room was the type that motivates me to avoid touching anything I don’t need to; surfaces were not clean. However, the bed linen was okay, as was the bed. Lots of insects were attracted by the needlessly bright modern garden lights, and doors and windows were left open so they could get inside. Even my hotel key was disgusting: the tag attached to it had an old sticky label which was partly worn away, and its glue residue was holding the accumulated dirt and pocket fluff of innumerable previous guests. Presumably, no one at the hotel could be bothered to clean it. It rather sums up the hotel. Dinner was awful. The dining room’s maître d' was badly dressed in a shabby polo shirt and casual trousers; he looked like it was his job to clean toilets, not greet diners. I was brought soup, and had to request a spoon with which to eat it. Service for me was slow, but I got luckier than my fellow diners – some were waiting two hours for food. I was fortunate enough to have other dining arrangements for my second night in this hotel; some of my fellow diners who did not returned to the hotel with food from grocery stores rather than endure the same dining experience for a second time. Breakfast was also awful. The floor of the breakfast room was wet and slippery, I had to request that it be dried. I also had to request that lights were turned on in the breakfast room, which was dark. Scrambled eggs were strangely lumpy. The toaster was of an impenetrable design. Coffee dispensers ran out of coffee half an hour after breakfast started.

Overall good experience and recommend hotel 🏨 We stayed overnight and wish to have more time. Big rooms, clean and well equipped. There is a smell from the carpet probably, most likely due to age and not cleanliness or maintenance. The facilities are really impressive Good tasty restaurant and high end service- thank you

This is a lovely old palace. The rooms are big and visually comfortable, and the bed is huge. The area around is lovely so why not a good experience? The the building outside looks perfect and the common areas look good too, but the room smells really bad of old and dusty carpets and we couldn’t leave the windows open because the road in front is noisy with fast cars passing by. There is no insonorization between rooms and with the corridor. We woke up with our neighbours in the room in front of ours. Definitely not a 4 star in that regard. The bathroom is nice and it has 4 star perks but smells terribly do to lack of pipe sanitation. It’s not just charmingly old, it really smells bad. The woods are splitting and it looks like the building was renovated in the 1990s. We were quite happy to be there because it’s really a lovely palace located in a beautiful area but we couldn’t rest properly. They are charging too much for what is being offered.

This is an excellent hotel, built-in renovated old 16th-century manor house once belonged to the noble Almada family. Located in semi countryside near wonderful old Coimbra, university city and one of Europe best-preserved Roman city ruins. This is a very quiet place, allows you to have great rest and at the same time enjoyment of the old surroundings. Worth your money, time to drive there and enjoy a restful time. Traveled in April 2018 before covid.

The number of positive reviews of this hotel are surprising. After staying at five hotels in Portugal this one was a profound disappointment. It is difficult where to begin to list all the deficiencies: 1) The A/C does not really work. How do we know? We tried 3 rooms. We ended up in the 3rd room because 2) in the second room the electric outlets did not work. Not great if you want to recharge your phone 3) The hotel is in need of a major renovation, bathrooms old, cracked tiles, old carpets, chipped doors, dark hallways etc. 4) Hotel is greatly understaffed, no visible help with luggage upon arrival no attendant around the pool 5) No umbrellas around the pool, no lounges around the pool, no towel service (need to get towels from the reception. 6) For what you get the hotel is seriously overpriced by at least 100%. 7) The location is not great if that’s important, a solid 25 minutes away by car from Coimbra, acceptable if the hotel was great, but it isn’t. 8) Breakfast is comparatively poor and you get staff by appointment, takes forever to get eggs and then they are cold. Bottom line: to be avoided!

Outside Coimbra, we stayed at the Hotel do Paço, a quiet, attractive property set in lush, rolling countryside near the Roman ruins. The rooms on one side look out on a sloping field and the hills beyond, a view shared by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining room. Guest rooms on the other look over the wall across the lane at a large house with a formal garden. My room was on the third floor, which had two lounges with comfy upholstered chairs and sofas and a garden view. You'd need a car to get to the sights in the area.
