The Crown

Disappointing service. Reminded again today why we don’t frequent here. Food allegedly served until 3pm (according to the menu and board outside). Tried to order at 2.55 and was told service finished at 2.45. This is now the third time staff have given completely different information to what is advertised, including one memorable occasion where we were told breakfast had finished an hour earlier and the board outside was ‘out of date’, only to see food being brought to the neighbouring table 5 minutes later. (On the one occasion we did manage to eat, the food was great).

Following floods we arrived at The Crown Inn to a very friendly welcome. The venue was spotlessly clean. We were looked after diligently and with respect with prompt service and warming delicious food. We stayed one night with very comfortable rooms once we had sorted the heating. Provisions in the room were great and anything we asked for provided promptly and without question. The breakfast was superb. Lovely memories of being with great friends enhanced by the lovely staff at The Crown Inn.

Pub with rooms in an annexe to the rear. Rooms are modern with comfortable double bed, toilet/shower room also decent size. Clean and tidy, a little cold on check-in but it was the coldest day of the year and the elcetric heater warmed the room up quickly. Broken tile on bathroom floor raised to staff so I hope it's been addressed now. Pub serves good food and well kept cask ale. Included breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and plenty of toast and tea. Ideal overnight stopover whilst attnedning an event nearby.

Decided to stop for a nice cup of tea to catch up with a friend. It’s a basic drink, tea pot arrived half full of water with no lid on it. Dirty cups, no spoon or sugar. Waitress was unhelpful and rude. If you can’t get a basic drink right dread to think what the food is like. Sadly won’t be returning

The food is delicious soo happy the crown is back and better. 10/10. Lovely green outside for the little kids. Staff are very polite and helpful Always recommend. Best reasturant. Amazing food soo delicious . My fav restaurant thank you soo much.

We stayed at The Crown in Cookham on 29th December 2022. We didn't eat or drink in the pub because we had other plans so I can't comment on the pub interior or its food or drink. We met the bar man when we checked in and he was very friendly and helpful. We returned later and our room was large and spacious and had a lot of character. There were two heaters available so the room was very warm and we were able to adjust the heating. The bed was large and comfortable although the pillows made a funny noise when you moved your head. The bathroom was very clean and the shower worked and the water was hot. Free soap was provided but not shampoo. Now here's the curious bit. When we checked in the bar man told us that breakfast would be served from 8am and showed us where to come for it. However, when we tried to get our breakfast it was clear that the pub was closed and empty and there was no breakfast. We waited until 9.30 and eventually departed, leaving the keys on the bed because there was no one to give them to. For reference there is a shop called "Country Store" which is next to Cookham Railway Station which has its own in house bakery where you can buy "breakfast in a box" for about £5. This is just up the road from The Crown (about three quarters of a mile). I have twice emailed The Crown to find out what happened to our breakfasts but have had no reply. One final point, The Crown is situated in an ideal spot if you you are walking the Thames Path. Cookham has many pubs and restaurants to visit so if you don't like one just try the next.

From the outside it looks like a nice pub but as soon as you get inside it’s dirty and very tired! We ordered one pint of beer one medium glass of white wine one coke and 2 packets of crisps £18.20!! The beer was from a party keg on the bar as no beer pumps were in use, wine was “Barefoot” available from Tesco and the crisps were from a multi pack and marked as not suitable for re-sale, tiny packets maybe 25g and we were charged £1.70 a packet. Whilst drinking some of the warm beer I contemplated the bill and decided it was incorrect so asked for the prices. The landlord told me the beer Marlow Rebellion was meant to be served at room temperature ! I requested a refund for the crisps and argued the beer should not be served at room temperature but the barman said I was being rude. A lady member of staff then joined in and said “I should give struggling pubs a chance” Anyway we will never go back.

I booked this pub for my brother to stay in with his wife last week so he could attend my wedding. He had a terrible experience, the room was filthy and it was doubtful that the sheets had even been changed. He is far too nice to complain but I am furious! It’s a disgrace, the bathroom was disgusting with hair and soap scum. Dreadful!!

Entered premises, unfortunately a terrible odour hit our senses. Decided not to eat as premises looked tired and not as clean as previously seen The lady behind the bar was polite and welcoming hence score of 2 not less This could be an excellent venue But it’s lost its way and heart. I will never say never to return as things can change
