What a gem of a pub with rooms. We had a delightful one night stay. Evening meal was excellent, breakfast lovely, the room was beautifully decorated and clean, the staff brilliant. Highly recommended.

The pub part was full of character and interesting curios, it looked like it hadn’t changed much in 50yrs and that’s how it should be. I was concerned that the rooms would also be 50yrs old though. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Everything was so new and immaculate that it felt as though I had been the only person to be in the room since it was built! Little details like lots of plug sockets with USB ports at a sensible hight to charge everything. Not much in the way of draws to store things in but thats not important. The wifi was OK. The food was great and the staff were all very welcoming. The location was remote and quiet….Everything I like. I will be back next time I am working over that way. Quite surprised that this was once almost on the bank of the Thames many years ago as was the castle when it was originally built until the land reclamation started.

We stayed here after a wedding at Cooling Castle Barn. A warm and friendly welcome both on arrival and on our return from the wedding. We had room 4, very recently built and in spotless condition. An excellent night and beautiful view over the fields. Breakfast was included and cooked to order. Super quality with a big mug of Yorkshire Tea :-)

This rustic lovely pub, restaurant and hotel is perfectly located a walking distance from the Cooling Barn wedding venue. The hotel has check in/check out times to accommodate popular wedding times. As soon as we arrived, we were met by the friendly staff, it felt like we had arrived at a home away from home. Stuart checked us in, top bloke, and the bar/restaurant had great friendly staff, Sarah, Honey, and Hannah that really impressed. We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights, (minimum stay 2 nights for the cottage) located at the rear of the main building with its own entrance. Literally 20 steps from the restaurant and car park. The cottage is self contained with a bathroom/shower over bath and toilet, a second walk in shower room with toilet, kitchen (with fridge and microwave), lounge, private outdoor court yard, and the main bedroom with cupboard. Ample of room and very private facility. Just a few improvements needed here, needs hand wash in the main bathroom, the temperature control for the downstairs shower was very hot and couldn’t be cool. An electrical socket in the main bedroom was very loose when pulling a plug out. No air conditioning here but a large tower fan is provided. No WI-FI found in the cottage but excellent Wi-Fi in the main building. I tethered from my phone when in the cottage. Could definitely benefit from extending the Wi-Fi to the cottage. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and the restaurant and bar service is 5 stars.

What a gem, 3 ladies stayed in the stable cottage self contained unit, Great value £240 for 2 nights between us, Hamper arrival pack was in abundance. Snug comfy bed and pull out. Plenty of hot water and heat. Beautiful views, we had dinner and drinks from the bar 1st night. All food exceptional … esp the home made cinnamon dough balls !!! We Paid additional for breakfast the following 2 mornings and was not disappointed, family business, son stuart the chef went out of his way, they couldn’t have been more accommodating. We had a wedding down the road and chose the location for walking distance home, but due to weather and currently on crutches. They offered and came to pick us up at midnight, saved us a lot of trouble as location is good for venue and walks . We shall be back maybe trying the B and B rooms or back to the stable as it takes dogs and we can hopefully then do the many lovely walks nearby. Well done guys for hospitality

The food came large and quality, very tasty and always fresh. Breakfast is nice with ample choice between the full English to the egg muffin choices with smoked salmon/bacon etc. The dinners were tasty, I recommend the chicken teriyaki skewers and the linguine or steak. Well worth staying for dinner 1 night or more. The village is small and surrounded by the countryside. No shops or anything which adds to the charm. This pub is truly the hub of the village. If you have a wedding over in Cooling Barn, this will be your best bed and breakfast, and dinner for a extended stay, for charm, service and no taxis required! A special place, the Horseshoe and Castle.

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding in cooling castle. Check in was quick and friendly. The chef cooked us an early breakfast to order as we had to be at cooling castle for 8.30. We had dinner in the pub the night we arrived. It was beautiful, fresh, tasty and very filling. The room was clean and beautifully laid out. Cannot find anything bad about anything. would defnitely stay again and eat here again. Easy access from the car park park. It was brilliant! 5 stars.
