The room was very nice as was the location of the hotel. We only had breakfast whilst at the hotel and visited other establishments for dinner. The three members of staff that we met were very professional. What did surprise us was that we could not charge anything to the room and that payment by credit card had to be made at point of sale, This was a completely new experience for us. I would mention, that at time of writing this review, I have not received a reply to an email I sent with regards to the IPad charging cables I left in our room on departure.

After reading the reviews for Bartley Lodge, we were quite worried we’d booked it ! We were really so surprised . We had room 42 on the ground floor and it was quiet, warm and clean . We tried the pool and it’s warm like a bath ! We were the only ones in it and it is small . So don’t expect to do lengths ! We were on a secret escapes deal which included a welcome drink and 2 course meal. We were welcomed with a really good glass of Prosecco. The food was really lovely. The blue vinney souflee delicious . The terrine fab and tasty and we had the chicken and belly pork which was also really lovely. Congratulations to the chef ! We felt bad that not many people were using the restaurant. It is a real treat , so please try it We would definitely recommend eating here . We are here on another night with Secret Escapes . It’s a great location as well . We will certainly look forward to another night.

Very dated in a cheap way. Very small room and bed. Furniture was all broken in room. Restaurant and bar was ok but very expensive for what it was. The afternoon tea was very nice but apart from that not much to say they did well for the money

Lovely staff and hotel but not enough staff. Buffet breakfast at Travelodge would probably be of a similar standard. Dinner was even worse - my children ordered fish and chips and were greeted with fish fingers which were cheap and nasty. I will not be going back. Get more staff and sort out the resturant.

Avoid at all costs. This hotel is basic, dirty, run down and has dated decor. The food is mediocre at best with 5 star prices. £30 for an average moderately ok steak, £16 for a poor weird tasting risotto and £13 for a kids meal of fish fingers from a packet! The food is way overpriced for what it is. The rooms I think are overpriced too it’s a 3 star hotel in my opinion. The lounge areas are uninspiring and uninviting. The pool is ok but tiny and only room for a few people. Very basic. The marketing photos make the place look much better than it is. There’s hardly any staff at all but the ones that are there are friendly and nice. Not much to do if it’s raining. Nice location in the new forest, this hotel could really be something special but needs investment. Overall I was really disappointed with our stay and wished I could have had my money back.

We stayed this weekend and honest opinion would be that overall there is room for improvement… the staff were very hospitable and nice however the food could be a lot better… plain, and of no actual taste. More attention to detail could be done here. We slept really well but the rooms were dated and could do with a freshen up. More toiletries could have been given for a family of 3 instead of a small tiny bottle of shower gel. Overall had a nice experience but just some minor tweaks and this would be more enjoyable. Beautiful grounds and building. Biggest concern was the food x

A delightful friendly lodge with olde world charm in the beautiful new forest. Unique features and really enchanting. Lovely grounds ut unfortunately with all the rain too wet to explore far. So convenient for local amenities. A delicious breakfast. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
