The Heron's Cove

The best meal of our short week in Ireland. Beautiful fresh fish and friendly service. The wine list was effectively a wine library from which you could choose your bottle - much more appealing than reading from the page!

Very quaint spot with a menu that is a little overpriced. The view of the bay was quite nice when dining. Parking was an issue but manageable. I cannot review the bed & breakfast as I did not stay. We only dined

The room was spacious and had everything you need including a safe. You can open the patio doors and chillax on the balcony, watching the wildlife including resident Heron doing their thing. There is a guest booklet which had so much information in it even a number for a dentist and instructions on how to ensure you have a hot shower, which I think was a great touch! The food was of very high quality at breakfast and our evening meal in the Restaurant was delicious. The surrounding area is great to walk around and explore and an ideal location to head out for the day to Mizen head, Sheeps head etc. We felt totally welcome and had a great stay thanks a million! You couldn’t rate it any less the welcome when we checked in , the cleanliness of the room and the dining area , the setting in such a peaceful area , walking distance from the lovely picturesque village of Goleen . Everything you want for an enjoyable break in a beautiful area

Over the years I have visited Heron's Cove...occasionally for meals but more often for Drinks on Balcony for the beautiful views. There were still some covid restrictions which were aware of and whilst we showed our Covid passes the Owner and her Assistant waited silently with their Arms folded in front of them. We were not made 1% welcome. It was the first time I had visited Goleen with My Fiancé .... everywhere else I was proud of my Father's Country...but not here. My Fiancé's Father was Jamaican and it was clear we were NOT welcome. I was in Tears with Anger later that night.

This is a real treasure. We were lucky to have a mini heatwave but it was perfect anyway. The mist stunning location. Small boutique B&B with five beautiful rooms overlooking the tidal creek. Staff were very kind and dinner and breakfast superb. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the cork/ mizen head area

We stayed four nights and really enjoyed our stay. The property is right on the water with a nice view. The room had a balcony where we could sit in the evening and relax. The people there went out of their way to make our stay good. In particular Irene and Bridie were the best! The restaurant is excellent and we ended up eating all our evening meals there as well as breakfasts.

Booked dinner here based on excellent reviews & beautiful location. However, despite the quality of the food which was undoubtedly excellent, the experience was marred by the service. We had booked our table for 8pm and arrived on time. Our starters were served at 9pm & our main courses at 9.45pm. We had a taxi booked for 10.30 so had to leave as soon as we had finished our main course. It was had to tell what the problem was, whether or not they had overbooked? Other tables appeared to be getting served at a quicker pace than ours! The food was really lovely but when you are paying up to €40 for your main course it’s not unreasonable to expect better & more timely service. What was a family meal to celebrate the end of a lovely holiday was not the event we had hoped for! Despite not a single apology about the delay over the course of the evening at least they had the good grace to take a bottle of wine off the bill. All in all a beautiful meal in a stunning location but we won’t be back in a hurry!
