Our experience at Garryvoe for our wedding was incredibly disappointing. Despite our initial excitement and the positive reviews we had read, we encountered numerous issues from the outset. Guests were mistakenly informed that there was no wedding scheduled for our date, we were overcharged, and our instructions were not followed – including providing free drinks to all guests without our consent. To make matters worse, despite being assured that music could play until 4 am, it was abruptly turned off at 1 am, disrupting the celebration. This not only marred our special day but also impacted the experience of guests who had traveled from abroad to be with us. Perhaps most frustrating was the lack of apology or accountability from Aidan and Kevin, the managers, for the myriad of problems we faced. Instead, we found ourselves repeatedly reaching out via emails and calls to resolve issues that should never have occurred in the first place. Overall, our wedding experience at Garryvoe fell far short of our expectations, leaving us deeply disappointed and wishing for a more seamless and enjoyable celebration.

Beautiful hotel overlooking the sea, totally chilled out and relaxed thanks to the beautiful superior sea view room we booked to the Professional and friendly staff. To me one of the main attractions was the Health Club, loved the 25 meter pool and discovered aqua swimming for the first time.

I stayed in Garryvoe for four nights recently. I loved it. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious. I liked their recycling bin and bottled water, something you don't see often in hotels. The staff was excellent. It was like being welcomed into someone's home. They were genuinely interested in the guests and seemed proud of the hotel and it's reputation. I enjoyed the food. There was a breakfast buffet with lots of choice, homemade brown bread and scones and a hot food menu. I ate in the bar a few nights, and again, the food was tasty, fresh and the portion sizes generous. I got a very reasonable rate and they honoured the same rate when I decided to stay an extra (Friday) night. There is a beautiful sandy beach right across the road, perfect for swimming and walking. I hope to return to this gem of a hotel and beautiful part of Ireland again.

The staff when I visited were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is getting some work done and I think this will enhance its appeal. Right on the coast in a quiet location.

Recently stayed at this hotel as part of a package of 3 bed and breakfasts and 1 dinner. Some positives include the view from the rooms, the comfortable bed and the lunch in the bistro was lovely and good value. Unfortunately the negatives far outweigh these and as a result, we would certainly not return to this hotel. The room needed a refurb...there were cracked, moving tiles on the bathroom floor and there was a large hole in the ceiling over the bath and could see the insulation and dirt etc. The leisure centre - I was the first guest in there one of the morning's and the dressing room shower area and toilet were not clean whatsoever and would turn me off using it. The worst part of our stay was the service in the restaurant and some of the food served. For our dinner as part of the package, we had dinner in the Samphire Restaurant. It was very quiet with approx 9 people having dinner and there was 3 staff waiting, which makes our experience even more disappointing as no excuse for poor service when so quiet. It seemed like it was the manager that took our dinner order and I noticed that he didn't write anything down...maybe he should start as there was plenty of mix ups. Initially one drink was brought to our table and no sign of the second drink...had to ask for it 10 minutes later. On to the main course, I opted for fillet steak (that comes with kale and mushrooms) but I requested onions instead of kale when i ordered it and was told this was no problem at all. Steak arrived with no onions (but had kale and mushrooms). I mentioned it to the waitress and she took my whole plate and said she would add onions. She arrived back 5 mins later, with both the kale and mushrooms gone (i wanted to eat the mushrooms all along) saying that the chef won't keep the steak under the lamp as it will overcook so to eat my meal and they will bring out onions when they're cooked. The man who took my order came over and apologised saying it was his fault over the mix up. I waited and waited for the onions but no sign so I ended up eating my steak with no sides whatsoever...just a few small roast potatoes that came separately. What a let down and a disappointing meal. When I was on my last bite of steak, low and behold, a massive bowl of onions arrived. Awful service for an almost empty restaurant. Other negatives were the eggs benedict for breakfast...eggs were very undercooked with gloopy white of egg turning me off it. We also found that there was a taste of coffee from the tea so cups needed better washing. Would not return.

I was really looking forward to staying at the Garryvoe as we had been here for a wedding a few years ago and it had been amazing. While some aspects of the stay this time were fine, overall it was disappointing. The check in time is 4pm which is late by any standards. We were met by a lovely Receptionist who was very friendly and took my number to ring me if the room was ready earlier so we did get in to our room at 3pm. The room itself was spacious. The bed and pillows very comfortable. There was no water in the room despite being provided with glasses. There were a few stains on the carpet. The bathroom was fine. It all seemed to go wrong when going down the stairs to Lighthouse Bistro and The Cave Bar. You would think they are not part of the hotel at all such is the difference in ambience and service. The food is definitely over priced for what you get. But really it is the lack of service and untrained staff that were for us the worse aspect of our stay. There is nobody on duty in The Cave Bar. You have to ring a bell and wait..and wait..for a member of staff to come. People were getting annoyed waiting and the staff were very stressed and under pressure so the atmosphere was far from what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. They were ignoring people trying to pay or place orders. There didn't seem to be any organisation to the way it was run. The ladies toilets in the The Cave Bar are disgusting to be honest. There is mould all over the walls and plenty of spiders and cobwebs too. There wasn't any soap in the soap dispenser so I informed a member of staff. When I went back in an hour later there still wasn't any soap in the dispenser. We had dinner as part of our package. I was told by the Receptionist that it would be in the Samphire restaurant but it wasn't. It was in the Lighthouse Bistro. The food was unremarkable. The bar beside the restaurant wasn't open until service was finished in the Bistro, so approximately 9pm it opened. It was such a pity as it really is so much nicer than The Cave Bar. It's such a shame that what was once a fabulous hotel has gone so far down hill. Unfortunately I couldn't recommend to anyone and wouldn't return.

A very relaxing family trip mid term. Check in was stress free, upgrade was expensive but worth it for the view. Service in the bar was friendly, food good, menu a bit limited. Overall I would return.

We had a 3 night and 1 dinner stay. Lovely room with balcony overlooking the beach. Great location. Food was excellent and what really made it was the staff at dinner and breakfast. Really nice pool ,sauna etc.
