We stayed at Hotel Cortina for 5 nights in December - myself, my husband and a 5 year old. It was snowing as we drove to Cortina from Venice, and Andrea messaged us ahead of time to be careful on the road. When we arrived at the tiny street next to the hotel (you have to input Via Martiri di Tarcento on google maps) to drop off our luggage Andrea sorted out the car and made us feel incredibly welcome. The hotel car park was 10 minutes walk away - a bit of a faff with skis - but Andrea parked the car the first night and there was space. This initial experience of hospitality and fantastic service continued throughout the stay. The wonderful employees including Michele, and all the restaurant staff, couldn't have done more. They humoured my 5 year old every time they saw him, found his toys, gave us endless advice about places to go, ski hire, lessons, restaurants and made us feel like VIP guests. They allowed me to speak in my terrible Italian when I wanted, but they also spoke good English. I read reviews about the rooms being loud. We were on the 4th floor facing the campanile bell tower, but we didn't find it noisy at all. I am a very light sleeper but am used to the sound of European church bells (which are only 7am to 7pm ish). It was the week before Xmas so maybe Cortina wasn't busy, but we found the rooms incredibly peaceful, very comfortable, great shower and relatively big for a European hotel in town. We ate twice in the hotel restaurant (not the hotel's half-board restaurant described in another review which is separate). The food was absolutely delicious, about 20 euros a main pasta dish and the service enthusiastic. Breakfast had everything you would expect in Italy - a selection of Italian cakes, croissants, cheese, yoghurt, some muesli, fruit salad, bread and eggs with great coffee. The hotel is bang in the centre of Cortina, right near the main pedestrian street and 10 minutes away from everything. I hadn't realised that we had to take a bus or drive to the learner slopes at Socrepes, but it's a 10 minute trip and the bus goes from near the church. The hotel has a ski store which is heated and everything dries out. I couldn't recommend this place more highly - the staff are amazing and the hotel is just lovely.
