Nice and cosy hotel to stay in. However, we arrived quite late and the cafe was closed.

I have stayed here before, so arrived expecting the lovely ambience I felt last time, but I left disappointed. Whilst renovations are taking place some areas are closed. The restaurant was closed with just the small bar area open, this was not particularly a welcoming dinner experience and the kitchen closed early. The menu for bar seating was very expensive and breakfast was on hot plates, with only fried eggs available, which were sat for quite a while. Staff were friendly and the room was lovely, hopefully, after renovating it will be good lovely.

We would just like to thank all the staff for making my birthday celebrations so special and memorable. What a team you have working for you. Fantastic! From the greeting to the organising was brilliant. Thank you. The menu was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble to accommodate us with what ever we asked for. Lovely having the room to ourselves with our own bar next door, and the use of the lounge. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the space you kindly provided us. The meal was delicious and excellently prepared and presented to a high standard. As for the puddings!! All our guests were extremely happy with the huge selection, delicious. Thank you again for accommodating us with your hospitality and friendly staff. Excellent.

We were not staying at the hotel so this is a review of a stop for coffee on a Sunday morning ( there is a board outside the hotel which advertises coffee and cake ). We sat outside in a lovely sunny position and two of us went inside to order coffees in the bar, there was another lady already waiting in there and she said she hadn’t seen any staff. There was a door into the kitchen which I knocked on as we could all hear people in there but nobody came, I wandered out into the hotel, empty reception office, it was like the Marie Celeste. Eventually I saw a young lady in uniform but she didn’t know why there wasn’t someone staffing the bar. I told her what we wanted so she came to the bar, took all the coffee orders and went into the kitchen, us and the other lady then had a pretty long wait until she emerged with the first order, my husband and I had another longish wait for our order. My husband said he would pay now but she hadn’t been shown how to use the payment facility. The poor girl seemed lost and was obviously doing her best but it was a shame that she had to do all that on her own. By the time we finally left we had actually spotted 3 other members of staff just wandering in the car park plus one who assisted with the payment. We won’t bother returning.

Stayed at the hotel for one night. Bedroom good size with a double bed in my room. The walls/ceiling of the room are wafer thin. I could hear the person snoring next door and the person above constantly walking/moving around. The bed was the worst I have slept in, as just sunk into it and felt like you could feel the springs. The mattress was totally uncomfortable (room 12). The bathroom is modern with a bath/shower. The shower is very powerful, which was very nice. Television was a good size and had Freeview channels. Had a kettle with free tea bags, coffee, biscuits etc. Hotel car parking is free. No EV charging available which was a shame. The restaurant is located next to the bar area. We had the famous Pudding Club menu which was £19.99 for a suet pie main meal with an alcoholic drink. Approx six versions of the suet pie option. I had the game version, absolutely delicious with buttered mash and fresh wholesome vegetables & gravy. The breakfast is a good selection choice of hot & cold food. The free internet at the hotel is very good on the signal strength. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The location is beautiful. The staff were really helpful. Two pubs in the village were both great. The bathroom fixtures were a little dated and walls thin. However, the rooms are very comfortable and have nice views. I would stay again.
