We stayed in Tropico 20 for 3 nights Wednesday to Saturday. First impressions was really really good, the location of the hostel is about 6/7 minute walk from the Cozumel ferry terminal right along the waterfront. The hostel is located in and around all local and popular bar’s, restaurants and local information centres to book your excursions. As location goes you cannot argue as you are central to everything. Check-in is an easy process - things to note, if you want to have use of the locker underneath your bed, the hostel request a deposit $200 peso - which obviously you get back when you check out which we did. The style of the beds where very compact and comfortable - varies between single beds or a double bed. We had a double, they was very spacious and comfortable and there was plenty of space to move around. Each room came with USB plugs for charging phones etc and also a reading lamp which came very handy when the lights went down. I think overall there was about 20 beds. Plus private rooms which ran along side the hall way, when we arrived it was rather quiet only a few beds where taken, as the few days went it got busier towards the weekend which was expected. - the only thing I can complain about and it’s not really fault of the hostel itself but some of the occupiers really don’t have common courtesy, very early 7am waking up screaming laughing very loud likewise of an evening - but it’s something I guess you can’t control. The hostel as a communal area at the front of the building with comfy chairs and is a really good spot to chill out. Additionally there is another area in the kitchen which is a nice space and great photo opportunities with various wall art. The kitchen itself is great, fridge freezer, cooking stove, microwave and all equipment come as standard. The kitchen area is a nice space to chill out and relax. They have a huge tree in there and of an evening you literally get eaten alive by mosquitoes so make sure you have some mosquitoes spray. Air conditioning is really good, throughout the dorm room, this is monitored by the staff and is on from 7pm to 7am making your nights sleep more comfortable. The best and most amazing part of our stay is the showers - they are possibly the most powerful showers I have used and are great to use. Overall to sum up my stay at Tropico 20 Hostel - I would recommend anyone looking for a fairly priced and comfortable accommodation in a fantastic location then this is the place to stay. It literally has everything you need of you are staying for a few days.
