My wife’s and I just concluded our visit to Allegro Cozumel and we had an amazing time. The negative reviews about the food are way embellished. The food variety was great. My wife and I eat pretty clean and there were always lean options (chicken thighs, ribs, chops) and plenty of fresh fruit and veggies for us at every location within the resort. We were there for 7 days and I should first say that we pick our resorts for the beach and the volleyball - neither of which disappointed. If you like beach volleyball this is a great place. They play twice a day and the resort staff made it tons of fun. We were also there when other voleyballers were there and the competition was awesome! Obviously that is more dependent upon coincidence and timing, but it was a ton of fun. We are runners as well and there is a nice path that goes around the western side of the island that is for bikers, runners and scooters that is perfect for a run. We ran every morning and it was very safe. They also play water polo, pool volleyball and pool basketball on an alternating schedule if you really want to be super active. Otherwise there are tons of beach chairs and pool loungers and bars that you should never be left wanting for anything The oriental restaurant was good and fun, the Mexican restaurant was ok. Honestly, the buffet was pretty good and they changed the theme each night. We did go off the reaper one day and rented a doorless car ($65) and toured the island. We went to the eco park at the far south end ($20/person) and snorkeled there for free (had our own gear) and then went to the east side and ate at El Morador. The food was great! I recommend the grilled octopus a garlic butter…. Amazing. All total, that day prob cost about $200 total but was a ton of fun and were made some great memories. I want to give a special shout out to Angel, Arbey, and Johnny for a great trip and organizing volleyball and all the activities and making them fun. Carla at the buffet made a great effort to get to know our names and we appreciated that. All the staff was very friendly and always said hello and were welcoming. Now to the negative - the rooms have a tough time keeping cool, especially on the top floor as the ceiling is vaulted. Try to request a room on the bottom floor. The premium package is not worth whatever they charge for it. The premium restaurant in the morning is not good. Go to the main buffet where the choices are vast. Also we booked BD EXPERIENCE for our transportation and they did not come and pick us up from our hotel to take us to the airport, even though we did everything they told us to to schedule it. That’s on them though, not the resort. Don’t use BD Experience for anything, they’re crooks.
