I booked an Ocean View room with Suites Bahia. We have seen these rooms before and they are big with a full size fridge and microwave, dining table, and a big patio with a great view of the waterfront. However Suites Bahia has been closed since the pandemic began! We were told it was closed for remodeling but when we got there we found out the truth. It hasnt been open for more then a year!. I was informed a week before we got there that we would be upgraded to CASA MEXICANA. Shame on you! While Casa Mexicana might be newer this was no upgrade at all. The patio for the ocean view rooms are tiny with very little view at all. Definitely not worth paying extra for, and whats worse a bar somewhere, somehow seems to pipe music right onto the patio. Sometimes the music is good but keep in mind it is always playing with no chance to even talk on your phone to anyone while out on that tiny patio. What is worse is that they somehow managed to change the usual excellent full breakfast buffet to just a continental breakfast for those that are switched to Casa Mexicana. I do not understand why the breakfast buffet is not back since the Covid Traffic light is Green in Quinanta Roo, but giving the guests that booked at Suites Bahia a smaller breakfast wasn't what we were expecting nor what we were used to when staying there. We were planning on cycling the island that morning and needed the calories! We complained and got the regular menu breakfast the first day "Complimentary" which was really quite good, but not the 2nd day when we were refused it, even when it was apparent that I was upset at not getting the full breakfast. In Summary. If Suites Bahia is closed, take it off of Booking until it is reopened. I did not wish to stay at Casa Mexicana and if I had known of the new breakfast rules we would have stayed at Plaza Cozumel for less money or El Cozumeleño for $30 more but with all inclusive and beautiful ocean view rooms. In hindsight if I had known all this beforehand we would have cancelled our stay at Suites Bahia and just stayed at El Cozumeleño. I doubt we will be staying at any of this hotels properties in the future since there are lots of options on Cozumel.
