Travelodge by Wyndham Cranbrook

Very dark and dingy room with stained carpet. Hair on the bathroom floor that was not mine! Little wiskers in the sink. Hair hanging off screws that once held a soap tray in shower. Room was not the cleanest. TV was hard to watch as it was not in front of the bed. Pillow cases were old and piley. Stairwell to room was not clean and depressing. Staff were nice though and was within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Homeless people were not an issue. It was sad to see a female smoking a bong in front of her room. We can thank JT for that!

Outside appearance is dated but the room are clean and dated. The hotel is hosting homeless people no problem with them. Check in was good but in the morning only one staff and he went to help someone and we had to wait 15-20 minutes.

This place is still advertised as a Travelodge but is actually rented out to social services for homeless people and drug addicted. That is fine but it shouldn’t be sold as a regular hotel for travellers that are not aware of the situation. I feel bad for unexpected guests driving in at night for a quiet rest to find their room stinking and surrounded by people shooting up in the yard.

A large portion of the rooms occupied by homeless people paid for by the government. They created disturbances that required the police to be called during our stay. We were not the ones who called the police. The outside areas were filthy. I am a Platinum Wyndham Rewards member. This was the worst Wyndham property I have ever stayed at. The owners should remove themselves, or be removed from the Wyndham system.

I gave a $150.00 deposit on check in. On check out their machine was down so they asked if they could process it manually, taking 3-5 business days. I should have refused to leave without the money they owed me. They offered no form of reimbursement for the hassle or what it cost me to wait a week. Then after the 5 days I went back and they didn't have it, but promised it the next day. Then I went back AGAIN and they promised it the next day. It has now been 14 days. I have literally been waiting two weeks for something I was supposed to receive back immediately and I needed that money very badly. I refurbish furniture and not being able to buy any with that $ has cost me hundreds in profit. They just gave me the runaround and blamed the credit company that handles the debit machine. I explained that it's THEIR choice to deal with that vendor, personally I did not entrust my deposit to the vendor, I entrusted it to TRAVELLODGE and it's their responsibility to return it but they took absolutely ZERO responsibility. The lack of reimbursement, accountability or effort to resolve the problem is appalling. I'll never stay there again.
