Moradia Familiar NovaVista - T3

The views are the best part of this hotel. Incredible. You are out of town but the views make it worth it. It's only a short drive to town and nearby attractions. Overall I felt that I was staying in a hostel. Matter of fact there is a nice new hostel downtown that is of better quality and cheaper price for a private room. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. The staff helping at breakfast and the housekeeping were also quite pleasant. Overall the friendliness was a huge plus. However, the woman helping run the place was a bit caustic The overall accommodations were cheap, not to be confused with basic. The toiletries were below grade (noting all other Azores hotels provided much higher quality), the towels could scratch your skin, the bed was terribly uncomfortable and the pillows felt like they were stuffed with straw. The breakfast was acceptable but very strange how/what/when they served. It seemed like you were asking for a favor if you wanted to use the pool or hot tub during the advertised hours. They advertised a fitness center but it was not useable. There were 2 rusty machines covered in pool supplies and a random free weight. Note- This review is for their hotel rooms- not apar**ent accommodations.

Perhaps it was our arriving 30 minutes before the stated 1500 check-in on a Saturday afternoon, but there was little effort to describe the facilities and make us aware of services provided, or indeed to make us feel welcome in general. Our decent sized room was clean and had adequate bathroom facilities. A reasonable choice of hot and cold items were available at the buffet breakfast and the terrace seating provi9ded good views over neighbouring Faial. However on the Sunday by 0915 some of the hot items and breads had already been consumed and were not replenished. Available outside table space was in short supply as used crockery and glasses were not cleared away. At 1000 the coffee machine was promptly turned off. Things were better on the Monday / Tuesday of our stay. Obviously its not the fault of the property, but being located 3 kms or more from Madalena centre means a reliance on hire car or taxi. Both of these were in short supply at the time of our stay and necessitated some 40-50 minute walks into town.

The hotel is built from the union of many little house. The room are good. wifi is good. Breakfast is very good, they required to wear disposable glove before take anything. Fantastic view from the breakfast room and from the swimming pool
