Everything was good, apart from the food in the Terrace restaurant which was overpriced and not of the corresponding quality

Had a beautiful meal in the meikle, huge portions staff were so accommodating and friendly, kids watched the magician and the singer who was by far the highlight off the evening. Room could be doing with an upgrade a lick of paint but the meal and entertainment made up for that.

Visited Friday evening with my family. Just wanted to say what a great stay we had. My daughter especially liked the singer Sharon. She was besotted with her. What a fun filled evening involving the adults and children. Can’t wait to come back.

Spent a really Good Friday and Saturday night here, spending this in one of the family apartments. Apartment was really clean and there was plenty of room for all four of us. Used the swimming pool on Friday which was also clean and well maintained. We had dinner at the terrace restaurant which was ok but quite expensive. We tried to see if we could get a pizza for my son as I thought the piccolo restaurant menu could be used but unfortunately we were told it wasn’t possible. Spent all day Saturday at action Glen and paid £35 each for the day’s activities which again was good value although we had to queue for each activity and we were unfortunately turned away from the A Loft due to it being too busy. I felt a bit sorry for the instructors as they had to explain the scenario to everyone being turned away, it wasn’t their fault but people always want someone to blame. Good break though and we all enjoyed it. One downside was there was no water in our room and we had to pay for 4 small bottles at the bar which came to £10, which was ridiculous. The cost of drink was ridiculous actually but such is life these days. Eg a gin and tonic, vodka and soda and two lemonades for around £20. I would go back though, lovely place in a lovely location.

Hotel grounds are beautiful and there is lots to do for all age groups. When we arrived, we were allocated Room 09 which smelled like somebody with a severe body odour problem had stayed in it. Having opened the windows for ventilation, the smell didn’t disappear and within 15 minutes we were moved to Room 39 which was lovely! Couldn’t fault the staff, particularly the lovely housekeeper who sorted the room change out and offered to help us with the move. We had dinner at The Meikle on the Saturday night and didn’t enjoy it. The menu was limited, the soup was cold and risotto was undercooked, but the service from a particular waitress (I believe she may be Australian/South African/Kiwi (apologies for not getting your name)) was exceptional. She couldn’t have done enough for us, and was extremely friendly. We asked for a cocktail menu and was told they only had the 5/6 cocktails on the dinner menu, and it wasn’t until after the meal we saw a huge cocktail menu displayed at the entrance. Overall I would recommend this resort, I would have loved to come somewhere like this as a kid. The hotel needs a decor upgrade, Room 09 needs to be sorted out and some of the staff in The Meikle need to give a little extra, but overall a 4* review is appropriate.

We had a stay for a birthday celebrations - I absolutely love this hotel and can’t believe I’ve waited all these years to go. It does look a bit battered at some points, but the place is massive and the atmosphere absolutely makes up for it. It’s just a great family vibe hotel. My kids are teens but I was so impressed with all the activities for small children to do, wish I had brought them when they were younger. We loved the ceilidh on the Saturday night. Would 100% visit again.

Really enjoyed the stay; lovely staff, very helpful with queries at the reception desk and in the restaurants/ bars. Delicious food and a wide array of dishes available for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner, and the cakes and coffee were well received at my course. Generous portion sizes at the Terrace bar.

I need to store insulin in a fridge and assumed there were fridges in the feature room which we booked. Only a “cooler”. Reception advised that we could store it in the fridge in the porters room. This is not acceptable. They did what they could and on the 2nd night moved us to a studio which has a wee fridge. Advised that in the future I should book studio or room in Leigh building to get fridge. I feel this is excluding people from staying in the main hotel should they require a wee fridge. Duty manager Karen was most helpful
