Hotel grounds are beautiful and there is lots to do for all age groups. When we arrived, we were allocated Room 09 which smelled like somebody with a severe body odour problem had stayed in it. Having opened the windows for ventilation, the smell didn’t disappear and within 15 minutes we were moved to Room 39 which was lovely! Couldn’t fault the staff, particularly the lovely housekeeper who sorted the room change out and offered to help us with the move. We had dinner at The Meikle on the Saturday night and didn’t enjoy it. The menu was limited, the soup was cold and risotto was undercooked, but the service from a particular waitress (I believe she may be Australian/South African/Kiwi (apologies for not getting your name)) was exceptional. She couldn’t have done enough for us, and was extremely friendly. We asked for a cocktail menu and was told they only had the 5/6 cocktails on the dinner menu, and it wasn’t until after the meal we saw a huge cocktail menu displayed at the entrance. Overall I would recommend this resort, I would have loved to come somewhere like this as a kid. The hotel needs a decor upgrade, Room 09 needs to be sorted out and some of the staff in The Meikle need to give a little extra, but overall a 4* review is appropriate.
