The Westin St. John Resort Villas

We arrived at 1, but at checkin they told us they could promise nothing until 4 pm. We did not have access to our luggage so had to wander around in the heat with our travel clothes. Came back at 3:45 to check if room was ready, and they rudely told us it's not 4, so why are you asking. Came back at 4:15, and they told us our room still wasn't ready, and they would call us and let us know when it was, so more roaming around in the heat in hot clothes, until they finally called us at 5:30. Not the best start. That said, the room and the views were beautiful. I couple of things didn't work in the room (the coffee maker, the phone), and one day water wasn't there for a few hours, but those things were all fixed. The best service in the resort is the golf carts... the drivers were friendly and accommodating. We also received good service at the water sports. However, the food at Snorkels was overpriced and mediocre, as was the service, they definitely need to work on their food and service especially for such a nice resort. Also, the ferry transportation provided from the airport is way overpriced, and the timings are inconvenient, only a few times a day, although it is nice being picked up and dropped of right at the resort. If we were coming again, we would just take a taxi from the airport and take the local ferry to St. Cruz, which goes every hour and is a fraction of the price. Especially since we were stuck waiting in the airport for hours on the way home because of the timings.

It was clean and my children enjoyed their stay. The staff were very polite and friendly.

The ladies at the front desk were very unfriendly and not very helpful. Our room was okay. The dishwasher was dented and was missing the bottom plate. It had all kinds of "crud" under it that was visible. The handle fell off of the shower, and the bathroom vanity was missing a piece of the veneer. Our room was up the hill and across the road, so it wasn't conducive to visiting the large pool or beach. We definitely would not stay again.

Premier facility in a prime location with all the amenities. We enjoyed our 3 day stay in the villas in St John. It was the perfect base for accessing the shopping and restaurants in Cruz Bay and the amazing beaches and trails on the rest of the islands. The suite offered all of the comforts and accessories we need and had the best beds we slept on during our stay in the USVI.

This hotel is great because it’s the only hotel in the island, the grounds are beautiful, the pool is great, beach is awesome and rooms a spacious. But the customer service is TERRIBLE. I don’t think in our entire stay we encountered one pleasant person working at the hotel. It’s a good place to call home base while on the island and that’s about it.

Great spot, great views, updated villas. Service left a bit to be desired. Super slow for everything. Streaming services were down the whole trip and all we got was a “sorry”. Electricity went out for a while, but no one said anything. I would come back here for the location and ease, but not my favorite spot!

My room was not ready until 7p at a resort that strictly enforces a 10a checkout time and 4p check in time. There were tons of people around me in the same situation and they were given resort credit for the inconvenience, however I received nothing.

Had reservations but forced to cancel for urgent medical conditions. No break. All money taken

We are owners and this was our 5th trip. Normally stay in Bay Vista section but not available when we booked. 1st stay in Virgin Grand units that have a plunge pool/patio across the road from main resort. A 10 min walk to pool, water, reception. Staff are consistently going back and forth but was only offered a ride once during the 6 day stay! 😞 Units in this section are dated and need updating, but appliances were fairly new, worked well. Nice size kitchen and living room area. However not enough seating if you have more than 5 people. Same goes for private pool area - only 2 loungers?? Should have at least 4. Pool was a nice feature and very clean and refreshing. Perfect for large family or group as there are 2 more bedrooms upstairs with full bath. Unit was equipped with full size washer/dryer which is appropriate for potential number of guests. Upstairs seemed hotter and I would be concerned of A/C not cooling efficiently. We moved to Sunset Bay rooms for last night. Very nicely updated, clean and new. Outstanding location right on the water. 2 bedroom units were converted from hotel rooms to condos. Very nice, but no window for 2nd bedroom! Why? Only downside. Service was spotty. Reception/check-in desk was courteous and efficient. Got into room very close to 4 pm. 👍Told to visit Platinum Elite office for welcome packet etc. Important you do this as they do provide discount card for property and offsite restaurants and retailers. They provide "Sand Dollars" if you book your update. Just be careful to use them as you cannot apply to room charge. We were very happy they provided BEFORE we did update and not after as we were able to pay for dinner at a very nice place in town. Nice selection of what establishments will accept. 😊 Platinum Desk associate was less than enthusiastic and was basically just doing his job. Too bad as it is a first impression. Additionally, no praises to the supervisor that came to the room to inspect our disappoin**ent in cigarette smell. Could have cared less, claimed they did not smell anything. Um, sorry but it was obvious. They did send someone to change the large room filter which he indicated was dirty. Said they would spray something but never did. It dissipated as week went on and we did put a sheet over the couch as it seemed the smell was worst sitting on it. The main pool area was very busy midday, so if you're not there early, you will be searching for shade or possibly a chair. Shout out to Odette, at the pool/towel desk. SHE is FABULOUS and knows what customer service is all about! Cheerful, enthusiastic and helpful. She is empowered to make decisions and took the time to walk around, say hello, and talk to guests. What a breath of fresh air. That is what you like to see as a guest. Everyone should emulate her behavior and attitude! We love it here but there is a great need for good and motivating leadership that takes accountability and supports the staff. A staff that is inspire
