Lovely stay at Champneys first time I’ve been in a long long time and safe to say it’s kept its standards as high as previously, amazing food very friendly and helpful staff, special mention to Harvey and Bilal who were very friendly on my visit to the terrace café, Rooms were very tidy and housekeeping kept the rooms tidy and clean without fail everyday will be returning.

We booked a two night stay, and had both an early check in and a late check out, giving us three glorious days of total decompression. From the moment we arrived, the familiar “Champneys’s scent” that’s pumped throughout the resort, to the moment our taxi pulled away, we felt very well looked after by the immaculately turned out staff. With the late sun out in full, lazing outside our garden room on loungers, with the only decision to be made was what we would eat from the extensive menu, slows you down from the fast paced lives in which we live. Dinner did not disappoint, and with live music on offer, one felt relaxed and spoilt. Each and every member of staff were both courteous, and happy to assist. There are so many activities and classes to chose from, and also a plethora of treatments on offer, you really need to plan ahead in order to get exactly what you want, as they are extremely popular. I want to thank the reception staff who assisted us with all our queries, and the lovely lady in the shop, who helped me pick some goodies to take away. I struggle to comprehend some of the negative reviews, and my answer to them is this: if you are constantly looking for flaws, you sure as hell will find one… I prefer to reflect the perfection that is Champneys Tring…

Had a great week at Champneys. Superb food and loved the environment. Spa is first class and treatments value for money. Grounds are lovely and great cocktails in the bar. Only snag is electric charge bays are not always reliable, so don’t rely on using these for EV cars. They are not working, or non-EV cars park in the bays.

We went for the unwind and dine experience this weekend and had a lovely time using their relaxation facilities and wonderful grounds. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and we had a delicious three course meal, with great service from the waitress Lucy. Thanks! x

This is our sixth stay at Tring having also stayed at Forestmere. We really enjoy our Champneys breaks and had a lovely time. We stayed in a suite for 3 nights. The room in the mansion house was huge, in a central location and very quiet. However, we did look at other rooms which appeared very shabby and not the standard you would expect from a brand like Champneys. The food was really good, we particularly enjoyed the return of the buffet lunches. We always ate in the upper area of the restaurant ( due to our room category) which was nice and service very good. I attended various fitness classes and really enjoyed them, I actually wish I lived closer to be a member! My partner booked the pelaton bike on several occasions, whilst I was in my classes, and again enjoyed it. Housekeeping staff in the main areas appeared stretched and cleaning of the spa areas, toilets needs to be much better. We can only think they are short staffed. Our main disappointment is that the buildings are looking very shabby and in need of maintenance. Parts are starting to look derelict and it’s very sad to see. We appreciate the hospitality industry has been hit hard in the last few years and the industry is still recovering but some of the jobs such as weeds growing out of gutters, stinging nettles on patios, guttering requiring painting etc etc could surely be addressed given the prices Champneys are charging? We returned home this afternoon and had a lovely time and we really want to keep returning twice a year BUT the hotel is in dire need of capital investment otherwise we feel that the loyal Champneys returning guests will start to look elsewhere. There is clearly a demand for this sort of offering as it was very busy and it is not cheap, so what is happening? Come on Champneys we want to return!!

The stay was wonderful. Apart from one thing. In the morning I had to leave at 7.30 am sharp but I also wanted not to miss my breakfast and have it in a takeaway box. Right now the staff did not have any boxes and I felt really uncomfortable and unwelcomed to pick any food to take with me. I was given a napkin and was not felt I was really provided a good kind friendly service at all. Quite opposite actually. I felt like a thief. I think in such a nice hotel it would really help to have take away boxes for customers for convenience. Something to think about anyways. Kind regards Dr Dasha Palmer

This place is committing daylight robbery. It must be one of the worst places I have gone to - luxury spa it is definitely not! Where do I start - when you check in, you will just be told where to go and you have to find your own way. The room itself is very old and the toilet/bathroom are disgusting - full of mould, cracks, stains, air vents full of dust - the list could go on. The spa area itself - there is only one steam room and one sauna that can fit around 6-8 people in at a time. The place is so over booked and crowded that you sometimes have to wait to go in, and when you do go in, be prepared to be tightly packed next to other people - not relaxing at all! How can a “luxury spa” only have 1 sauna and steam room?? The floors are dirty with hair and mud everywhere (from people who walk outdoors and then come in) - we were there 2 days and did not see one cleaner at all - terrible and disgusting. The jacuzzis are better and there are a few scattered around but again no one checks the chlorine or cleans them out. Food was good for lunch and dinner and a good choice. Their lunch desserts are horrible though, and are mostly all mousses. The rice pudding and spices crumble are horrible, cold and no sugar. Breakfast is quite bad though - the chef who makes the scrambled egg must be fired - you cant call that scrambled egg. No baked beans, hash browns, pastries or porridge! These are basic British staples surely. Who eats lentils and kedgeree rice for breakfast? Had a massage which was awful. No music in the room and no effort in the massage. Overall, this place needs to have a full refurbishment, have regular cleaners and take pride in how it operates. It is living off its reputation from 30-40 years ago - save your money and book elsewhere!

Shocking! Given keys to someone else’s room! Was offered another room, then someone walked in on ours whilst on the loo! Shower not working, room dirty, Was offered a free night stay, no food, no packages? Therefore want us to spend MORE money there despite the terrible experience we had?

We were at Champneys Tring for 2 nights to celebrate our friend’s very special birthday. The team were outstanding, provided us with everything we needed and more and were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The accommodation was stunning, I’d highly recommend staying in the garden suite for a special treat. My treatment was fabulous and the food, atmosphere, service and ambience was first class. Best spa stay I’ve ever had. Thank you Tring team 😊
