After reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried but I had a lovely few days at Champneys Tring. My room was comfatable and clean, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good especially the buffet lunch. I enjoyed the thermal pool and outdoor jacuzzi. It did get a bit crowded in the morning bit most of the time it was fine and there was always beds available to lounge on. I enjoyed my break and will visit again.

We came across the same waiter, Steve, a lot during our stay at champneys tring, whether it be in the cafe or restaurant, and he always had a smile on his face and nothing was too much trouble, I wanted to make sure he was recognised for his efforts, as they didn’t go unnoticed!

My daughter and I have just got back from an overnight stay at Champneys Tring which we enjoyed. Even when things were difficult the hotel handled it really well. In particular I want to call out Edan who was one of the waiters (amongst other jobs). He was super helpful when we asked for his help with my daughter’s allergy to olive oil. It’s not a usual allergy and being such a health menu, it seemed to appear in every dish on the menu in one way or another. Edan was very patient with us and worked with the kitchen to find something for my daughter. He was patient under pressure and always positive with a nice smile. We also saw him in the coffee shop and making cocktails and each time he spoke to us and made us feel nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Edan for helping us to enjoy our stay!

We last stayed for one night in 2022 (garden suite) and although the accommodation was lovely, there was a noticeable lack of staff everywhere and the food was pretty dire with a restricted menu. Fast forward to 2024, and we returned for two nights in a superior room using our Vitality discount. Pros: - staff numbers have definitely increased - the buffet breakfast and lunch is back and dinner has vastly improved! - we had some lovely trea**ents - the main building, gardens and surroundings are beautiful and everything is very relaxed Cons: - the accommodation was average. There wasn’t anything superior about it. The room could benefit from some modernisation. The bathroom, however, was very tired overall and there was a shower over bath that had seen better days. The bath was unusable as an actual bath (quite narrow) so a large walk in shower would have been a huge improvement. - we had an issue with all taps pouring out steaming hot water on our last morning and my husband couldn’t shower or brush his teeth before we checked out. Receptionist wasn’t interested in finding him an empty bedroom to shower in and suggested he showered in the swimming pool changing rooms. Hardly an ideal solution just before getting dressed to go home. Overall though, we had a very nice stay and would return.

I celebrated my special milestone birthday over the weekend at Champneys Tring and it was absolutely wonderful ❤️ Rod and his team, especially Ezster, made sure everything was arranged perfectly for our stay. The facilities are impeccable. I had a great facial trea**ent with Rosie (best facial I have ever had!!) I totally recommend.

We were quite disappointed with our stay at champneys in Tring and it boils down to staff. Most of them seem like they don’t want to be there, it’s a little dated now and almost shabby in parts and the spa area was not clean. For £460 between 2 of us (the did include a couple of trea**ents which were lovely , although we had swapped out facials for massages and that had not been recorded) Examples were that although there were lots of staff in the reception area no one greeted us and when we asked someone for help we were told it wasn’t really her job but she would try and find us someone. The service in the cafe was slow but the lady was lovely she just seemed like an army of one. The rooms are so basic, no fridge or hair dryer and the bathroom Was grubby. It did have a beautiful view with a Juliette balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens. The main spa area had bits and hairs all over the floor and I didn’t see one cleaner. There are other more modern areas which looked better . Good points - dinner and lunch were lovely. (Breakfast disappointing) / some staff were great / lots of facilities / beautiful grounds . Unfortunately we won’t be returning just due to the fact I think we can get better for that sort of money . Maybe we would have felt a bit better had the staff been more well welcoming

My friend and I recently visited Champneys in Tring and were sorely disappointed by our experience. We are regular visitors to Champneys and usually have a nice, relaxing time but this recent visit was way below the usual standard. Firstly, at breakfast there were no plates available and nowhere to sit and eat so we had to pile our food into tiny cereal bowls instead. It was only around 9am at this point so it seemed odd to have run out of things already. The staff looked very harassed. The food was good though the salmon rolls were a little dry. Not long after, I popped to use the bathroom and found there was no toilet paper. It was not yet 10.30am at this stage and I thought this was totally unacceptable for a place that bills itself as luxurious. The next issue was how busy it was. I have visited on many occasions in the past and never found it to be so overrun. It was near impossible to get a lounger or anywhere to lay and relax unless you went outside, where it was cold and raining. The hot tubs and Thalassotherapy pool were particularly busy and it was hard to find a space. This ruined our enjoyment, as we had to waste time walking around trying to find somewhere to go. It seemed to us that too many people had been admitted and bookings should have been capped at a much lower number to ensure a good experience for guests. The signage was also inadequate and my friend and I kept getting lost, as did many other people. Lunch was excellent and I could not fault that. My friend and I had both booked Body radiance for 5pm so we arrived in the trea**ent area at 4.50pm to await our therapists. My friend was collected for her trea**ent and I continued to wait until there was only me and one other lady left. There was no-one on the trea**ent reception to ask where our therapists were. At one point, a member of staff walked by and we asked her and she said the therapists were on their way. By 5.15pm both myself and the other guest were getting concerned. As there was still no-one to ask, I went into the shop and asked the lady in there, who checked on the system and said there was no booking for in the system for me. She sent me to the main reception. It turned out that despite my booking being confirmed in writing for 5pm, they had erroneously booked my trea**ent for 3pm, so it had been missed. I didn’t have time to take a later slot and requested a refund, but the receptionists said they weren’t able to process this and it would need to be done by Reservations, so I walked out £110 poorer for a trea**ent I did not receive. It was the final nail in the coffin for what had been a very below par spa day and the sort of experience I would expect from a leisure centre spa, not a luxury health resort. I contacted reservations the next day to share my experience, expecting at the very least to receive an apology, but my email was completely ignored. I am absolutely shocked at this appalling level of customer service towards guests who

Louise goes above and beyond in the cafe. Always friendly, professional, knowledgeable and an asset to Champneys . Anthony and Richie are also great professional instructors who make the sessions fun and targeted to individuals. They inspire guests to continue to exercise.

I managed to book a last minute stay for £165 (then had to pay an additional £70 to use spa facilities and £30 for dinner upon my arrival so £265 in total) instead of the usual £500 and I’m relieved I didn’t pay full price. The staff service was absolutely impeccable. They were polite, attentive but didn’t hover and all appeared to enjoy their jobs. I absolutely cannot fault the service, it is 5*. However would I pay to go back? Probably not. 1. Menu - beautiful menu with healthy fibre filled ‘fancy food’ options although not particularly inclusive for people who like me have Crohns’ and have to avoid lots of fibre. I could only request chicken and rice and couldn’t have the 3 course meal with no offer of a partial discount/refund for this.I didn’t pursue as I was so appreciative of the accommodating staff however this would have been a nice inclusive gesture if Champneys could consider inclusivity. 2. Everything appeared to be hidden extras. £70 to use the spa facilities which I feel were very average - doesn’t include lunch and you can’t keep the robe. Not enough lounge beds around the jacuzzi/pool, tiles missing on the plunge pool, significant rust seen on rails by the pool, in the women’s day spa changing rooms the changing cubicles were tired with one I was in - no lock working, the shower ceiling corner was held up by duck tape. It’s tired and needs updating and TLC. 3. Room - standard room very roomy but similar decor to Holiday Inn, not luxury. Needs up updating.
