There aren't many lodging options near Santa Claus or Lincoln City. We thought a Wyndham property would be good, but this one is sorely in need of upkeep. We had a first floor room, and it was quite damp. They have dehumidifiers for the rooms on the first floor to address the humidity levels in the rooms, but even then you have to empty the bucket a few times each day. They really need to figure out what's going on with that. Also it's causing rust in several areas in the rooms, particularly the bathroom area. The hotel charges $2 for use of an in-room safe and you have to tell them when you check out that you want to get your $2 back. There's a sign at check in but the front desk clerk didn't mention it when we checked in. Thankfully I had seen the sign and also got an alert from my credit card company about the additional charge before checking out. The breakfast is mediocre. The pool looked okay as there were several families using the indoor pool. The towels and sheets were pretty thin, and the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers had seen better days. The wifi worked well. The water pressure in the shower was the best we've had in our multi-day, multi-branded-hotel travels. The room could use more lighting as it's pretty dark when the curtains are closed (and even when they are open, only one part of the room gets any natural light). The front desk clerk at check out was friendly and seemed to care about the quality of our stay; the front desk clerks at check-in and during the evening seemed annoyed when we needed assistance with our dehumidifier (that wasn't working). If you have to stay here, request any room besides a first floor room. If we had known that the humidity issue seems to be limited to first floor rooms, we would have asked to change rooms. The clerk at check out told us that, but the clerk at check in did not mention it. Also note that this hotel is very close to the time zone line so be attentive to what time it is for check-in and check-out.
