yiban Inn (Dali Ancient City South Gate Branch)

This place is amazing! Room was big and clean. Location was just enough outside the old town to be peaceful, but not too far as to be inconvenient. Lots of food and bike rentals nearby. And the owner was super helpful and friendly. Speaks Cantonese as well! But the best part had to be August the dog. He made my day coming back everyday. The most adorable dog.

The host is warm and so helpful. Location is just close to the South Gate, nice and convenient!

The nice hotel room was quiet and the bed was spacious. We booked it because we thought it was in the old town (as indicated in the listing) but far enough to not be very noisy. Turns out it lies outside of the old town's city walls. It was a 20-30min walk along a busy street with lots of traffic (not really a pedestrian sidewalk) to reach the main street within Dali Ancient City. Therefore, I wouldn't book the room again. But the owners are nice and their dog is very affectionate. Bonus points for that. :)

The room was big and nice, the staff is also very nice. The public spaces don't seem to be well taken care of, there's a lack of order. There were a lot of shampoo and soap bottles in our room, but many of them were empty (there was no shower gel for example). There was a nice tea set, but the tea bow was almost empty.

I'm so grateful to have found this wonderful home stay! You could reach the host via WeChat,he show us the way to inn and help us with the luggage when Didi drop us in wrong place.Room is very comfortable,you can enjoy the tea with mountain view. My hosts have been absolutely delightful, going out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. From offering me a warm cup of tea to getting to know each other and sharing stories, they've made me feel like part of the family. And of course, their adorable dog has been a constant source of joy and companionship! The little touches, like providing comfortable sandals when my shoes were wet, have really made a big difference. This home stay truly feels like a home away from home, and I couldn't be more thankful.

My family and I had a pleasant stay here! Room was clean and well kept. The person in charge was very friendly and helped us a lot when we asked about going to Cangshan mountain and other things. It's a 10 mins walk away from the Dali Ancient City which is good as it is quieter. We will definitely come back here if we're in Dali again!
