Magnolia Hotel Downtown Dallas

I didn't stay there because after I made and paid for the reservation I googled Magnolia for reviews and found within the past couple of weeks people left horrible reviews saying the rooms were filthy, holes in the towels, dirty blinds, paint peeling, homeless people in the lobby, furniture chipped, and hair came out of bathroom drain. I just didn't want to take the chance of taking my daughter there. I made a reservation through another website for another hotel and lost my money for Magnolia. I would have used Trip.com but the other site had a better price. I know they claim price matching but since the reviews don't seem legit, I wasn't about to take the chance on the price matching.

Everything was terrific! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great location right in the ATT discovery district.

The staff was top notch. The rooms were nice. The location downtown and lack of parking was the most frustrating part. The valet made that a bit more convenient but we waited 30 minutes for the valet to bring our car around.

I didn’t realize the building was older. There was no heat in the lobby. It was like walking into a freezer. The heat in our room had to be turned up to 85 to finally get heat blowing. The elevator stopped working. The phone outside our elevator didn’t work. We had to climb down 2 flights of stairs to find a phone that worked to call the front desk about the elevator. Yes, it was broken due to a leak, but they offered to manually send the elevator up to get us, which we accepted. The ATM was down, the restaurant was closed and looked like it had been for some time as it was being used for storage (you could see this through the windows). One morning we had to wait over an hour for the valet to get our car (along with 3 other parties). Overall, it was not a great experience.

Magnolia is truly a gem among the hustle of downtown Dallas. This is our second stay, and we absolutely love this hotel. The hotel is classy. The rooms are spacious suites with kitchen. What a nice upgrade. The only thing that we didn't care for was the homeless sleeping outside on the property. They were messy and never clean up after themselves. I don't know why they are allowed to camp wherever they want ?

This rating was really easy…the front staff (James & Zack) plus manger (Sophia) are not to blame but the condition of the building was used as an excuse for poor room offerings !! It took 5 separate moves on the morning we arrived at Dallas Magnolia Hotel with 3 in the first 1.5 hours and then the last 2 after a walk around Dallas for 2 hours where the rooms were not satisfactory. The guest services manager lived up to her title when we really needed her… 4 of 5 rooms did not have adequate air conditioning which for any hotel is the first and most important comfort for guests … the second is having the correct sized bed … anything after that be it TVs that don’t work ( our bedroom television) or cockroaches in the bathroom are just tolerated. What I cannot tolerate was a young lady (and I use the term very loosely) who upon our checkout was not dressed well , rude and totally indifferent to both my wife and myself who was so disinterested in the process when I asked her to pass on our appreciation for Sophia and the front of house gentleman who worked with us at the start of our stay. We are not difficult people but we could not accept hot-house environments for living in for 3 days. Sophia please be aware that this staff member was not a good ambassador for the hotel with a zero rating…
