We arrived and were only 1 of 4 cars in the car park, after reading this review you will know why! We checked in at 2pm by a very laid back gentleman who seamed to have all the time in the world, we had to be at a wedding in 45 mins and I happened to mention that we were in a hurry because we needed to be there on time. I thought nothing of the comment at the time. We were informed that we had been “upgraded” to the king Edward suite. When we got to the room it was awful and can only be compared to faulty towers! Marks on the old fashioned furniture, 70’s style pelmet over bed with matching curtains and an old stained sofa which quite frankly needs to go to the tip! My husband had a shower and the riser bar broke off but that was the least of his problems as the water was scolding hot, he quickly jumped out and flashed to whoever was outside as there was no privacy glass in the bathroom! We complained about the room and the gentleman who checked us in was actually the manager, he said we couldn’t have a refund and that he wasn’t happy that I was rude to him when we checked in, not sure what that has to do with it plus I didn’t think I was rude, just making a comment about how we were in a rush. I think somebody would benefit from going on a customer service course because his unprofessionalism was just shocking! We finally moved rooms but it wasn't the one we were promised, third time lucky as they say. We finally got into one of the newly refurbished rooms, that neither was of a particularly great standard however it was clean. The lady who showed us to breakfast and checked us out was lovely. I think the manager needs to take a leaf out of her book. Overall if you’re looking at staying at this hotel save your money and go to the premier inn down the road!
