OYO Unicorn Inn

I was surprised when I got there because of the size but turns out it works. I love that it was so quiet especially at night. George was helpful and so supportive. Lovely personality he has.

Excellent location Free parking outside. Clean room. Minor downsides:they have a digital entry system which *********** did not tell me about resulting in having to find the manager who explained it all to me. There was nobody on reception and I only gained entry because another guest was coming out of the locked front door. The system is excellent but I would have liked to be inormed about it. The room could do with a chair so it is possible to sit at the dressing table and work on a laptop. No food available as of now, but I didn't want any.

This is not a hotel it’s a house for the homeless that has a couple of rooms for everyone else. No bar no restaurant no person to check you in. They text you a code and that’s it. The room is in a state of dis repair carpet torn and walls damaged. Bed is wonky and dips down so your feet are in the air. All rooms have been smoked in and stink corridors smell of BO and other smells. If I hadn’t stopped in the pub up the road waiting for check in I would have driven off

What a rip off! Should not be open for business. No bar, no restaurant, no staff. When I arrived front door was locked and curtains drawn, had to get another guest who luckily was outside, to let me in. The only staff member on the premises was in the back garden, he gave me a key. I didn’t see him again. This isnt a hotel! They should not be trading. Outrageous

Wish I’d read these reviews before staying at the Unicorn Inn! They should not be taking bookings. It’s dreadful. According to locals, it’s been closed for ages. There’s a big To Let sign on the front. No staff. A cleaner was there to give the key to our room. Building materials litter the entrance hall. In our room, there was no wardrobe or rail to hang our clothes. No soap to wash our hands, let alone have a shower. Broken blind at the window. This is more like a serviced room, not a hotel and certainly not worth hotel price! Please don’t make our mistake, stay somewhere else, the Unicorn Inn is truly dreadful.

no amanieties, garden full of broken doors, delapidated, smoke alarms not working, should be condemmed, no hot water until day 2, no other guests apart from a tramp who had been living there since last november, eerie, trip hazzard carpet, totally unuitable for human inhabitnts. As previously mentioned the expiry of the lease means the tenant is no longer on site, he turned up promptly when we phoned though. Just us and a painter in the building - room was delightful, clean and comfortable. SO needs a window blind though ; I was awake at 4.40 watching an amazing sunrise over pretty Deddington (think I may have preferred an extra three hours sleep)!

Currently the pub and restaurant are closed; just the rooms are open. There are no staff on site. The current lease has expired so the whole set up is in limbo. We had to wait for more than 30 mins after a prearranged check in time for someone to arrive. On our 1st night we were the only people on site which was rather eerie. I'm not sure what would have happened in an emergency. The room itself was of a fair size. Although it was described as 'deluxe', it was anything but. Lots of issues in the room itself such as: No soap or bin in the bathroom. Dirty carpet and skirting boards. Inadequate supplies on the tea tray (we had to buy more ourselves). When we spoke to the manager after our stay, there were no apologies, just excuses. We understand the limitations of an old building and accepted the low ceilings and small bathroom but if we known the current situation, we would not have booked. A small refund was offered as we booked through **********.

Very comfortable beds in family room but no curtain for a floor to ceiling window looking onto the town square - so no privacy and very early morning wake with the light. One tiny tube of shower gel between two, and no soap for the basin. Despite blackboard on the ground floor advertising breakfast times we were told there was no breakfast provided, and no-one to speak to in the morning so we left the key in the door and let ourselves out, then went in search of breakfast elsewhere.
