We were lucky to score a lodge room in the busy month of August. The property is older but feels homey. We enjoyed our stay, dinner at Matthew’s BBQ, daily walks to the marina and kayaking. We made use of the fridge and coffee maker in the room and there’s plenty of parking. It felt very safe and there are some nice views of the water. There is no AC so we kept the windows open and could hear some road traffic but it’s not constant. The upstairs plumbing and floors are louder if you’re on the 1st floor. They provide a # to call and we did have to call once about a problem in our room and the lady on the phone made it clear she was annoyed which was weird, kind of funny but also a little uncomfortable. However, a nice older gentleman came over right away and took care of things. All in all, you’re mostly on your own, but should have all you need. It’s great to have Matthew’s BBQ on site for a great meal (but it’s closed some weekdays) and the lawn area with toys feels like you’re at a family picnic. Some toys (ping pong table and rubber axe throw) are warped and need to be replaced. Would be nice if the Inn made more info available about the foot path to the marina, tidepooling, breakfast options, distances/directions to other key attractions because Wi-Fi is spotty once you leave the lodge. But maybe half the fun is figuring it all out on your own. Overall we had a beautiful trip. Thank you Deer Harbor Inn!
