This hotel is sooooo nice! We got a lodge and it was clean and beautiful. The staff was so nice and they let us play snooker and enjoy the premises.

We booked this hotel to use the pool which was advertised in the photos, when we arrived it said the pool was closed and had been for sometime.
Very tired and neglected. Builders walking through the lobby constantly. We went to use the squash court which was a builders yard. It’s a shame

Amazing historical building, staff were friendly and very helpful, wonderful views with beautiful gardens and grounds, plentiful breakfast with lots of choice. Our room was enormous, warm and very comfortable bed. Pity swimming pool wasn't available.

No quilt cover in sofa bed which was so uncomfortable, we did not get any sleep.

The hotel was very grand with thick carved wooden doors, wood panelling, open fires and wide sweeping staircases. Our room was immaculate and luxurious with shabby chic furniture and a modern bathroom. However we were disappointed to discover the swimming pool was closed, after we had booked a non-refurbished room. Dinner at the hotel was nouveau cuisine and quite expensive. The TV remote had no numbers on it and it took a while to figure out how to get any programs. We were woken at 7 by drilling noise from the room above- this increased and included hammering from 8. The shower seemed very complicated- water coming from both heads at once and freezing cold. We did manage in the end but only after soaking the bathroom floor. Breakfast was excellent but we were surprised to find that checkout time was 10 o’clock
