AAnonymous UserMainly talking about the dining experience and my feelings. For ease of explanation, I’ve uploaded payment records and photos of inconsistent signature dishes with descriptions. During the ***** New Year, I stayed at Amann intermittently and ate at their Chinese restaurant, Lazhu, 7 times. Firstly, I personally believe my per-person dining spend is quite high. It's usually two or three adults per meal, so I'm not being nitpicky; I genuinely have an affection for Lazhu. Secondly, I absolutely confirm that Amann's F&B service attitude is excellent. When an issue arose on February 23rd at dinner, it was immediately resolved. A heavily inconsistent taste in the bream dish led to it being taken off the bill. Indeed, the next day, the quality bounced back to the February 22nd level 🙂. However, on Lantern Festival, March 3rd, it was disappointing. After an issue arose (reasons explained in the images below), I raised questions, but there was no feedback from the chef about the cause, nor any subsequent resolution. Considering it was Lantern Festival, I let it go. But the same attitude to my questions on the 4th made the guest uncomfortable (the restaurant manager's attitude was actually alright, otherwise, I really would have erupted). On these two days, soft drinks, including fresh juices and tea, were eventually waived. I don't think this is a sustainable way to resolve problems, especially for a guest like me who cares a lot about dining. I personally feel that Amann's F&B shouldn't have such significant instability, from ingredients to taste. Given my dining frequency over the New Year, these fluctuations were quite frequent. For a regular guest raising concerns, especially serious issues about ingredient freshness or off-flavors, timely feedback should be given, not just waiving soft drinks. (I definitely wasn't deliberately finding fault when I couldn't finish the fish last night because it tasted fishy; I ate the rice and mapo tofu instead, planning to save room for the fish. I really love to eat!) Lazhu has always been touted as the pinnacle of Jiangxi cuisine in media promotions, and I personally agree it is, when the quality is consistent! But for a high-standard restaurant, stability is even more crucial: the stability of specialty ingredients and the consistency of food quality are vital for loyal customers and a good reputation 🙂. Of course, one point is that since I was staying at the hotel, the location didn't allow me to frequently eat out. Otherwise, with such fluctuating quality, I would have been eating out in the city much earlier 🙂. The restaurant shouldn't feel like it can retain guests just because of the hotel's location 'bug.' The Western restaurant's M9 beef could also consider a different supplier; its texture was only upper-middle, not matching its price point 😐. I believe guests who come to Amann have their own lifestyles, tastes, aesthetics, and demands. The overall offerings still need to be more stable and align more closely with a luxury brand. After all, people are emotional, and honestly, many issues, as a guest, are overlooked because of the meticulous service and good attitude provided by some beloved staff. But fundamental problems that need improvement should still be addressed. PS: On the evening of the 4th, I went to the front desk to ask what movie was showing. After the receptionist replied with the name, I said, 'Is tonight's movie that abstract?' I looked down, thinking whether to watch it, then looked up and saw the receptionist's 'meaningful' look of disdain. She retracted it when she saw me looking up. I think any staff member can be displeased with a guest, have reservations, or other emotions, or even gossip behind their back; that's normal personal freedom. But professional conduct is essential. One should know they are at work and should not let guests see, hear, or feel such emotions. This needs to be done well during working hours. The guest won't suffer any loss, but it will repeatedly shock them regarding brand image and management (the CCTV should have captured it, as that expression wasn't a micro-expression; her mouth was distorted.) 🙂

SsharonxuArrived during the Flower Festival, so it took nearly 30 minutes longer to reach the hotel entrance, but the front desk service was warm, thoughtful, quick, and convenient, instantly washing away the fatigue from the journey. Stepping into the room was a pleasant surprise; the black design elements were incredibly unique. The toilet being in a separate small room is perfect for couples. The remote-controlled, fireplace-style pop-up TV and hidden dining table were also a first for me in a hotel; this has to be the most stylish hotel I've stayed in recently. The wardrobe door was a bit sticky, but an engineer arrived within minutes of my call and fixed the issue very quickly and efficiently. The new garment steamer was also very effective, so I didn't have to go out in wrinkled clothes 😃. Due to time constraints, I unfortunately didn't get to experience breakfast, but I'll definitely try it next time. As I was alone, I wasn't in the mood to enjoy the complimentary couple's cocktail. The first round of mini-bar drinks was quite comprehensive. My 'special forces' trip to Shanghai this time was to see a concert at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center, and now I have another hotel option for my next visit. Forgot to mention, you can watch the sunset from the end of the corridor in the evening. The meeting room looked incredibly luxurious with its estimated two to three-story ceiling height.

TTinawangnuoThis hotel is located right on the Bund, overlooking the Huangpu River. My room offered a stunning, direct view of the Pudong Lujiazui skyline, with the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center all perfectly visible! Downstairs, you'll find the Jinling East Road Ferry Terminal and the Bund sightseeing platform, just a 2-minute walk to the Bund itself, and a 10-minute walk to Yuyuan Garden/City God Temple and the subway station. The front desk was incredibly responsive, and check-in didn't require a deposit. The complimentary afternoon coffee and pastries in the executive lounge were a lovely touch, as was the nightly fruit platter before bed. They even provided bath tub liners, which is something very few hotels offer – the attention to detail is truly impressive and thoughtful! Overall, my experience here was absolutely perfect!

HHangxiangzailimingThe location is great, with a subway station just a short walk away. The room layout is well-designed. It was a bit rainy and chilly on the day I checked in, and the staff thoughtfully brought a portable heater to the room, which was very considerate. The breakfast was delicious.

GGuest UserFor my family member's birthday, we specially chose J Hotel at Shanghai Tower. Our Bund-view suite offered incredible vistas, overlooking the Oriental Pearl Tower. The hotel's butler service was exceptionally thoughtful; they even surprised us with a chocolate birthday cake and a birthday card, which made us so happy! Although our room wasn't ready when we arrived around 2 PM, it was great that in-house guests could use the lobby lounge for free. We enjoyed unlimited snacks, coffee, and tea there. From the 101st-floor lobby lounge, the panoramic views of both Puxi and Pudong were absolutely stunning. During our stay, we also participated in the hotel's guided tour, learning about the over one thousand pieces of art displayed throughout the hotel. The highest floor, the 120th, offered spectacular views of both sunset and sunrise above the clouds. The hotel breakfast was excellent, with a semi-buffet and à la carte options, and the self-service selection was abundant. J Hotel, with its impressive height, also delivers a high level of service. It was a truly special experience.

GGuest UserThe Peninsula Shanghai, nestled by the Waibaidu Bridge, the Monument to the People's Heroes, and the Bund, might not be described as 'convenient' in the traditional sense, but I found its location perfect for soaking in the unique Shanghainese vibe! The service here is wonderfully old-school and distinctively 'Shanghai' – unhurried yet efficient, demonstrating a clear and deep understanding of guest needs. The rooms are classic Peninsula style, with well-defined functional areas, superb soundproofing, and impeccable cleanliness and maintenance, putting my mind completely at ease. The dining experience was a genuine delight; both breakfast and the Cantonese restaurant in the evening were so memorable. I particularly loved the evening bath ritual – pressing the SPA button and immersing myself in the tranquil, ethereal music, it felt like I was back in a cozy island retreat! My two-day Peninsula experience was a solid 12 out of 10. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai who wants to truly experience its unique charm!

GGuest UserThis stay was a truly delightful surprise! I absolutely have to give a huge shout-out to our butler, Jason! From his thoughtful communication before we even arrived, to his prompt assistance throughout our stay, Jason's service was professional and incredibly warm. He immediately helped us with every request, showing amazing attention to detail, and making us feel completely valued. The hotel room was clean and tidy, with all the amenities we needed, and the location was super convenient for getting around or just relaxing. Overall, our experience was perfect. I've already recommended it to my friends, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in town, and specifically ask for Jason. Absolutely five-star!

GGuest UserI recently spent two nights at Upper House Chengdu for a business trip and was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional—every staff member I encountered was attentive and professional. Although I usually only choose hotels less than five years old, Upper House Chengdu is immaculately maintained. My room was spacious, spotless, and very modern, with nice, clean, thick beddings. Taikoo Li is fantastic for shopping and dining. The area beautifully blends original temple architecture with modern design, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The Loewe shop is a must-visit—stunningly designed and well worth your time! The Michelin Star Tea House at the hotel was truly amazing—a must-try. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and the coffee was good. The highlight of my stay was the bamboo massage at Mi Xun Spa. Gentle yet effective, it truly helped soothe my sciatica pain from the flight. Must Try! It’s a luxurious, relaxing experience right in the heart of the city. Highly recommend!

SSkylar ChengThe service was abysmal, from the front desk to the duty manager, no one seemed genuinely interested in doing their job. I booked a high-floor room with a view, but what I got was a room directly facing another building (see image 1). Initially, they claimed there were no high-floor rooms available. After I complained, the duty manager suddenly 'found' one – 'the only one left,' but it was right next to the elevator and a bit noisy. I had no choice but to take it, only to find a broken mirror in the room, which cut my hand. A little while later, the duty manager miraculously 'found' another, better room for me. You can tell from this how dismissive and deceitful their attitude was. It's clear that from top to bottom, they're full of empty promises and lies – first no rooms, then suddenly rooms appear when there's an issue. They simply don't care about providing a good guest experience. I doubt you'll find worse service standards in Shanghai. On top of that, the hotel's decor is incredibly bizarre. The bathroom is a kaleidoscope of colors, and the bedroom even has colorful lights above the bed – it felt more like a motel. A local friend later hinted that I shouldn't have stayed at this hotel… I regret it immensely.
