The Palms of Destin

Great resort. Everything you need. Even when cold out there's a heated pool. Had a great Thanksgiving meal. Just perfect. We'll managed. Beautiful grounds. Granbabies had so much fun. H8ghly recommend!

The condo 1309 had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, in fact, it had smelled like it had been smoked in for years! It was so strong it was giving us headaches! After visiting the front desk multiple times, they did provide an air purifier, but the smell was still there. When I asked if they could move us to another condo, they said they were full. The lights keep flickering every time we would turn on the washer/dryer and oven. We brought these to the attention of compass resorts, and then follow through with getting back to us in a timely manner was less than appealing. The linens and the mattress in the master bedroom were worn out and needed to be replaced. The bed was super uncomfortable! The couch was stained and had rips in the upholstery. The dryer do not dry clothes. I would have to put a very small load on three times for our items to be dry. The baseboards were dirty, and in some places missing in the unit. We have stayed at the palms before, renting from a private party, and we had an amazing experience, however, I cannot say the same about this one. After spending nearly half our vacation trying to fix their problems, they only offered us a tiny refund! I would have expected more for all the problems of this unit! I would not recommend staying in this unit or renting a unit with compass resorts!

Our unit #2811 Our management company Real Joy lied to us. They overcharge us for so much and during phone calls they were pushing us to pay as fast as you can because it would be booked so fast. We paid for 2 Bedroom apartment and we got one bedroom junior suite. Our 2 children 9 and 11 yo had to sleep 10 by 10 feet space with no window and washer and dryer front of them. It could not be count as a bedroom. The bunker bed was very dirty between sheets and the edge of the bed, the stairs to the second floor of the bed were dirty. It was disgusting. The main disaster was the kitchen. They called it "Gourmet kitchen": appliances were run down , utensils were worn out, dirty with metal erosion. Tried to use oven cookware was the same dirty and overused. But oven by itself were producing so much smoke that the fire alarm went off. And i could not use oven anymore. The pans were very cheap and everything was burning on them. in 2 cabinets they were 6 pints of paint which is hazardous and dangerous, by law it is prohibited to keep in any apartment. The furniture was dusty and sofa and chair has many dirty spots. Some of the drawers were broken, and it was very small wardrobe space. The sheets and blanket in master bedroom were inside out and very poor quality. There were many different stains on the walls, doors especially the entry door. The building by itself it was run down and smelly with dirty carpets in the hallway. Try to avoid this place unit #2811 and to deal with the company Real Joy, they should change their name to Real Disaster!

Stayed for Spring Break family of 5(kids ages between 8-12). PROS: Pool space is large with an on-site bar, restaurant and coffee shop. Prices are what you would expect(mid-range). Coffee shop has very cute decor. Front staff we encountered was very nice and helpful. Short walk to the (small) public beach(sidewalks available) so would recommend driving the short distance to Henderson State Beach and pay the $6 car load. Much more space to enjoy. Has a small playground, but also tennis courts, indoor pickle ball and on-site gym. CONS: We were told the hotel was under new management so hopefully the overall grounds can be worked on. Front entrance looks tired and landscaping around entire property is dying or sp****. From a first glance in the lobby property looks like it’s seen better days, but was not too bad once enjoying the pool area. Note if you are a family or person that wants a super « beachy » feel this might not be the property for you bc there are no real beach views and when you are higher up you get a view of the roadway. Overall review stay was enjoyable for the price, but was not overally « wowed » by the property.

The bar had a Super Bowl party and sold blocks and then refused to pay some of the winners. This was such low class. When pointed out they refused to listen. Could the money have ended up in their pockets? Just asking. Watch your wallets at the bar.

A lot of “owners” looking in vehicles following me and taking photos trying to see if I (African American) belongs here. Bar is ok, pet hair was in my burger and not one apology was made after spending hundreds on many nights on food,drinks, and tips. Chef is amazing and makes the best wings!! Pools are also nice but I prefer to go to the beach that’s within walking distance. Ignore the racism and you’ll enjoy.

Fabulous resort. Family oriented and kid friendly with many wonderful amenities which graced the property. Resort style large pool along with large hot tub and heated pool added to overall wonderful experience. In addition they have 2 kiddie water areas that the little ones greatly enjoyed. Our room which was 11102 was newly renovated with all comforts of home. Only minutes from beach with shuttle service to Henderson park and public beach or close to walk, made day convenient and enjoyable. Resort located to many restaurants, Walmart, publix. The in house restaurant made it convenient to eat snacks and meals on property. Coffee bar excellent and has delicious cakes etc. Area is near less congested part of destin. They have high end night club with many specials make sure you bring business casual attire.

Last night there was a man in the pool masturbating (hands in pants) under the pool walkway. One family called security and two other families (my husband and I included) also called. Security came and made him get out of the pool, then they closed it. My 12 year old daughter and son said that he followed them around the pool multiple times and reported that “he was looking at us funny.” They ended up calling the police the next day because of my persistence. The resort said that in the video he was facing the wall and that they could not actually see him doing it. However multiple family seen this. They said that because two of the families knew of each other stayed in different rooms live in different areas of the country but this was the reason why they did not have enough evidence to evict him from the property. I didn’t even get a chance to speak with the police. This is 100% illegal any place I have ever been as a medical person I have never seen something so disgusting in my life and for it to not be addressed is very alarming. Unfortunately he’s still here and I have to stay another week if I had not already prepaid $4000 I would be gone. I am uncomfortable here and I will not leave my kids alone even for two minutes with this person on the property. Also the grounds are not kept very well and there are not enough carts the amenities are definitely suffering. We will not be returning.

The resort itself was decent. However, if you do not book through Compass- forget customer service at the front desk. We stayed in room 2207 at The Palms of Destin and unfortunately for us, upon walking into our room at 4:06pm we arrived to an unclean room. It was in the same condition from the guests the night before. It is clear the management company has no process to ensure a room is clean before issuing a guest a key. My family had to wait and do nothing while housekeeping “cleaned” our room. The management company never answers when you call, instead you wait for a call back. Which is frustrating especially in a situation like ours. There were 3 face towels in a room which slept 6 which made showering interesting. In addition, the dryer did not work. It took 4-5 cycles to dry a couple of items and was so loud we could only run it while we were away. Which made showering more interesting as we could not wash our three face towels fast enough. The pillows on the beds were old and worn. The room was decently clean and in decent repair, but I wasn’t amazed or impressed. I might stay at The Palms again but I will never book through Destiny.
