Protea Hotel Kimberley
4/528 Reviews
Somehow I was not able to contact the hotel by an email in order to get a pick up from the airport, a bit strange for a Protea hotel. I was able to get in contact with Crystalshuttle which offered a fixed rate of ZAR100, which was quite reasonable. The drive from Airport KIM is approx. 15 min. Yes I choose Protea Hotel because of its location next to The Big Hole Museum, which was my purpose of my visit to Kimberley. Protea Kimberley is a Classic hotel, true to its old heritage, which I found very charming. I was lucky to have some peace and quiet during my short stay, and it takes you 1 min. to walk to the museum. Check in was swift and welcoming. I needed to keep my medicine cool, and the staff brought a fridge to my room, now thats what I call good service :-) My room was of good size (ground floor), big comfy bed, stable wifi, telly, aircon, coffee/Tea & kettle (restocked everyday), 1 bottle of water provided everyday. Bathroom of good size, waterpressure very weak and only cold water, shampoo and moisterisor provided. There are no plugs for shawers/ toothbrush etc. in the bathroom. The premises and the rooms was clean and well maintained. I choose to have my breakfast at the hotel (ZAR195) which had a good selection of hot and cold items and great coffee. I also had two meals during my stay which were both well prepared and tasty. All served with a smile by the wonderful staff. I ordered a wake up call for my early departure next morning, the young man at the front desk did not seem to care much about the request and unfortunately I did not receive that wake up call, only woke up 15 mins. prior to my departure making my departure a bit stressfull. Morning staff didnt seem to care much and wished me a good day....A sad ending to a lovely stay. I was happy to visit Kimberley and I did enjoy my stay at the Protea until my departure.
Halfway House Hotel

My go to accommodation place when it comes to Traveling to Kimberley. It's my home away from home and all the staff members and owner makes you feel at home. Great service and a few restaurants on premises to choose from for dinner when staying there.
Savoy Hotel Kimberley
3.1/52 Reviews
Kimberley was a city that emerged from gold mining in South Africa, so this hotel has a history of 100 years. Picture one is the appearance of the hotel that year, and Picture two is the appearance of the hotel now. The floor has not changed, but the corridor has disappeared. There are many hotel rooms, which is the most rooms I have ever stayed in this trip. The hotel has parking, WiFi, authentic Western breakfast, although not very rich, but the omelet tastes good. The photo of the room is not up, because after all, the history is long, the facilities are aging, the floor is creaking, can not bear to expose, but it is no problem to live for one night. The room originally arranged at the front desk was on the road. I was afraid of the noise of the vehicle passing by. The front desk changed me to a quiet room that was not on the road.
Garden Court Kimberley
3.7/55 Reviews
I was booked into the Garden Court in error as I normally stay at Protea in Kimberley which is a lovely hotel but where food is always a challenge for a vegetarian and the service is appalling. So, to begin with I was not happy but they surpassed my every expectation. My non-smoking room seemed to have had a smoker in it the day before who had cheated. I reported this to management who offered to move immediately me but I was tired, it was Sunday night at 19h00 and I said we could work it out the next day. They had the place cleaned from top to bottom the next morning and so thoroughly that when I returned and went to pack to move rooms, I could not smell a thing. So I stayed. That aside, what a treat! The staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and a delight. The breakfast team gave me the most delicious veggie breakfasts (I don’t eat eggs) I have ever had! Sometimes I would run by 10 minutes before breakfast was closing and they would pull off a miracle for me. Wonderful friendly, interested and passionate service. Truly rare. That brings me to The Spur on the premises. Being vegetarian it never occurs to me to go to the Spur because it is traditionally a steakhouse. Well was I in for a treat, the Spur offers so many vegetarian options that I was blown away. After fighting with the Protea to try and get food out of them for years, it was such a pleasure to be presented with so many options I literally could not fit them all in over four days try as I may. What a pleasure. My room was comfortable, the WiFi worked, the staff were brilliant right down to the lovely man at security who saved my special parking for me everyday and took my temperature. The fitness centre was wonderful and the pool a treat since it was very hot. The only thing I would add was that they don’t offer any body lotion in their toiletries which I did miss but that was nothing that a quick visit to clicks couldn’t fix. I will definitely be going back for the spectacular service and the Spur! Who would have known🙃
