Campanile Epernay - Dizy

Disappointed no warning the restaurant was closed people had to order food and take it to their room to eat it despite people being "allowed" to eat breakfast in the restaurant area. Little parking due to many tradesman vans and building materials everywhere. Tradesmen working all round building where accommodation is all day. Anyone in same situation have a ride into Epernay parking free after 6pm lots of good bars and restaurants. Felt sorry for staff who advised work ongoing until end 2026

No indication on website that the restaurant at this hotel has been demolished. Contractor equipment took parking spaces. Rooms are tired and need re-decoration. Crack in handbasin, no hot water in the morning, enamel missing in bath. Only positive was a comfortable bed. We have used this hotel 15+ over 30+ years of travelling as a family and a couple. NEVER AGAIN HERE.

Not sure why this hotel gets so many poor reviews. It is a standard Campanile outside of Epernay and is perfect for a quiet nights rest with restaurant on site. You can drive into Epernay which has excellent parking during the day to do the sights and is also handy for a drive through the fabulous vineyards, one of which is right next to the hotel. The rooms are standard motel type and, as with all Campanile they have a brilliant shutter you can wind down that eliminates all light. Yes the facade needs a coat of paint but inside the rooms are fine. I was particularly impressed with the manageress. Our toilet ran continually and she immediately came to the room, accessed the cistern and replaced a washer. Brilliant service - I hope the company appreciates her.

Sadly this hotel has deteriorated badly since our last trip several years ago, we would never go again. Outward bound on Sunday night no dinner available so required a 70 euro return taxi ride to the nearest reasonable restaurant. On our return trip restaurant open but the food was pretty appalling, a steak and mushroom stew was like dishwater. My chair back snapped and almost broke my neck as I flew backwards off it,not even an apology. Rooms both OK for the price so could be OK if you don't need food. Seem to be making up for the lack of happy tourist returners with Bulgarian grape picker gangs.
