We went here for lunch as a family visiting from Dublin. When we went in and sat down, we asked one staff member for a highchair for the baby. When he eventually brought it, he held it away and said "first I do have to inform you, its company policy that we ask you to keep the place as clean as possible if the baby is going to eat." That was bizarre enough but then an older man who worked there came and grabbed the menus from us and said "you've to go up and get it yourself" (carvery - absolutely fine but we hadn't been told this at all) and then I asked where the bathrooms were to bring my daughter and he snapped "through the gallery which basically meant through a small corridor and down to the right but really was little to no help. We left as the staff were so incredibly unwelcoming. In 7 years of having 3 small children eat out with us frequently I've never experienced it. Olde Castle Bar across the road is incredible & couldn't be more welcoming to the kids and the food is really lovely. F

I have stayed here on two occasions and have never been disappointed. The Abbey Hotel has a great staff, who are friendly and professional. The bar is great for a pre-dinner drink or nightcap. My barman, Oisin was absolutely terrific. The location of the hotel on the Donegal Town Diamond makes shopping, dining, and pub crawling very easy. The rooms are large and clean. We wish our trip afforded us a second night at the Abbey Hotel.

Complete disaster totally unorganized heating in room didn't work no hot water stains on floor and seats in the room.
New Year's Eve was horrendous total mayhem, they brought coaches of outsiders into hotel without notifying the clients they took over the hotel. Residents could not get accesd to bar or toilets, the room were the show was in totally over crowded, a complete safety hazzard. Residents had no choice but to leave the show and go back to
their rooms, the young people they let in totally took over every part of the hotel.
Running up and down the corridors banging on the doors. Brought food and alcohol into hotel and management were nowhere to be seen, infact some young one's still sitting in the reception area drunk from night before not even booked in the Hotel. I expect a refund for the night of 31st December it was our Wedding Anniversary, totally ruined we will not ever stay at this Hotel for the New Year EVER again.

We arrived just after 8 after a long, rainy day in the car. The restaurant was about to close, we didn't know where to park and were exhausted and hungry. John the manager couldn't have been more accommodating: he reassured us we could leave the car out front while we got settled, had us order dinner (which the chef stayed late to prepare) while we put our bags in the room, then checked back to make sure we were settled. Great customer service all around!

Stayed in the Abbey Hotel for 2 Nights. From the Moment we checked in to the moment we checked out everything was top Class. The 2 Receptionist on Check in Therese and Earlene are just assets to the hotel. Therese Checked us in and gave us a beautiful room over the Diamond and told us everything about the hotel, what’s near the hotel, where we could find Music, everything. Told us if we need anything to not hesitate to dial 0 to reach both girls at the desk. In the evening we decided to search for somewhere to eat and Earlene got us booked into the restaurant in the hotel, and Omg the food was just 10/10, Creidt to our lovely waitress Emma. The room we were given was the nicest room I have ever stayed in, Therese on Reception did say we were staying in the best room in the house, and right she was. Breakfast both mornings was Fab. Thank you to Lisa and her Donegal Charm. Donegal town is a lovely location and I would highly recommend, loads of shops loads of places to eat. Thank you to the Abbey Hotel and their wonderful staff, ye are very lucky to have such an amazing team.
