Such a nice place to stay, all wrapped up in the fact that this small town is really a charming delight, so relaxing and so very Italian. Rooms: the room we had was more like a little downstairs studio apartment with three beds. Spacious but basic. You have to look after yourself, down to buying a lighter for the small gas hob, as well as sugar and salt (if you need it). Fittings a little run down but everything very clean. And somehow this didn't matter and sort of fitted the sea-salty vibe of the whole place. We did choose the least expensive room on the ground floor (we think) which was not air conditioned. But this didn't really matter as the ground floor was relatively cool and the rotating fan is just perfect. Not much privacy as there was a family opposite who, in true Italian style, sat outside every night. Our little terrace was directly opposite theirs. No view to speak of. But our neighbours were super -friendly and we had lovely chats with them and helped their kids feed the stray cats that appear every now and then. If you were planning to stay in the room (we spent most days at the beach), I would definitely consider spending a bit more to take a room on an upper floor. This one can get a bit cave-like. But for the price, everything completely serviceable. Wifi worked great all over the grounds. The people: So lovely, so helpful. The pool area: Really nice and very comfortable. Never crowded as mostly folks are down at the beach. Location: This is great. It is up the hill, a little way away from the beach and the busy nightlife (and when I say busy, I mean Italian families promenading up and down the boardwalk or having dinner or icecream...there's a sort of teenage disco area and an outdoor cinema (only in Italian) but that's pretty much it) so really nice and quiet. It's about an 8-10 minute walk away from where the bus from Catania comes in. If you're just staying in Donnalucata, you don't need a car. All in all, such a lovely stay. I would recommend it although I think next time we'll not be so tight and try and get a room/place with a bit more outdoor space and privacy.

Siamo stati ospiti in questo residence nella suggestiva Donnalucata. La struttura è piuttosto vintage, appartamenti spaziosi e funzionali. Piscina molto bella e curata. Pregevole il personale, assolutamente gentile e disponibile. Da provare.

Sono stata al residence solemare con mio marito e le mie figlie. Ambiente familiare, proprietari gentili e disponibili, appartamento comodissimo con tutto il necessario, piscina ideale per tutte le età. Siamo stati davvero bene. Lo consiglio è sicuramente ritorneremo!!

Ottime vacanze passate in un residence curato e pulito. I titolari sono sempre tati cordiali e disponibili a soddisfare le richieste fatte. Ottima posizione per andare al mare. Consiglio vivamente questo residence dove alloggiare, ottimo anche come punto strategico per visitare la val di Noto.

Ho passato una settimana a fine giugno nel Residence Solemare, sono stata più che bene, come a casa mia! Andava tutto bene, camera con terrazzo vista mare, ho dormito meglio che a casa mia, cucinotto, non mancava nulla. Colazione compresa. Ma il vero “pezzo” forte di tutta la struttura è la titolare Alessia: sempre sorridente, disponibile, carina, ma professionale, è proprio più che adatta per gestire quest’attività. Lo fa con anima e cuore! Mi ha dato sempre consigli ottimi, procurata anche una macchina a noleggio, preso appuntamenti per me. Poi c’è anche una bella piscina, dove si sta benissimo! Se riuscirò, pandemia permettendo, vorrei tornare in autunno!

Camera enorme e pulita con balconcino vista mare. Alessia ci ha accolto con l'ospitalità tipica siciliana, con consigli su cosa visitare e comfort per rilassarci al meglio. La struttura è a 2 passi dal lungomare e i letti sono comodissimi!!!

the residence looks very different from the photos: what looks like a new, modern and well-kept place actually ends up being unkempt and uncared for. The rooms they gave us were small for 4 people, dating back to the 60's from a furnishing point of view. The kitchen of the only slightly newer room was very small and all of them were not equipped with essential items for cooking such as oil, salt and pepper, which we had to rush to buy (specific that we had informed ourselves before and should have been present, but we only found 4 sachets of sugar). The pool I don't know how to describe it: left to the care of the guests it ended up becoming dirty and cloudy, the dirty water that certainly did not invite you to take a bath. Also in the rooms we found a variety of different insects, mainly spiders and large cockroaches, certainly entered from the outside but still present and unpleasant. They do not have spare rooms, in fact following a problem of dubious origin we were left without a room and were forced to sleep in 6 in a room that was barely formulated for 4. Despite this, the staff is all in all helpful and nice. The wifii worked little and badly, often it did not allow you to do practically anything and you were forced to use the data connection. We encountered a problem in one of the rooms which was not resolved and which we were blamed for, despite having done nothing.
