Nature Lover's Paradise: Luxurious The Shire - Cubs Crossing Chalet in Sierras

Cozy, fun, and easy drive to town. No pool access but close to White Pines lake. Host was responsive and place was clean and lots of activities to do. Love the wrap around deck facing the big trees.

We really liked this home. It is 3 stories. The ground floor is the middle story. On the bottom floor, there is a pool table and foosball with the connecting 4th bedroom, which has 2 twins. Our teenage boys really enjoyed staying in this bottom floor and felt like this had their own suite, with a TV down there. The house was very charming and we really liked the layout. The steps going to the bottom floor are a bit steep. If you are traveling with a young child, you may want to bring a child safety door knob cover so they can’t access the stairs going to the bottom story. We really enjoyed the balcony and having coffee outside and enjoying the view and fresh air. Entry was easy, which is always appreciated.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and it was the perfect home base, just a quick 10-minute drive from White Pines Lake where we spent most of our time. The cabin felt absolutely magical and had everything we needed for a comfortable family stay: plenty of towels, toiletries, cookware, plates, etc.The kids were especially obsessed with the downstairs game room. They couldn’t stop playing pool the entire trip. The beds were super comfy too. One small thing to note: the bedrooms don’t have blackout curtains, so if you’re sensitive to light, definitely pack an eye mask.Also worth knowing that stores in the area close pretty early, so it’s best to grab essentials before heading to the cabin. That said, there’s a Dollar General about 15 minutes away that stays open later and surprisingly has pretty much everything.We absolutely loved our stay and would 100% come back again someday.

We had a great stay here with four adults and four children. The house is really spacious and has a lot to offer. I will say that the queen beds seemed very small to us. For two taller than average adults (my husband and me), it was not the most comfortable. Just something to be aware of. Other than that, we had a great stay!One thing I’d recommend to the host: VRBO says guests should receive check-in instructions three days before arrival. They even send another email on that day saying to reach out to your host if you haven’t received them by then. So that’s what I did. The host responded very quickly and said the code will be changed right before our arrival. That is totally fine, but then I’d recommend sending a message with exactly this information at least three days before arrival so that guests aren’t left wondering why they haven’t received check-in instructions.

We had an amazing time ! The place is just 25 min from Bear valley and in a really quiet neighborhood.

Nice, cozy cabin close to Bear Valley Ski Area. We planned a BBQ night with the kids, but unfortunately the grill was out of gas, which was a bit of a bummer for them!

The property was really good. We enjoyed the entertainment in the cabin. It is also very pet friendly. It is also close to many of the attractions in the area.

Our host was easy to contact and answered any questions we had. The house was well decorated and plenty of space for our whole family.

I would give this place a 4.5. It was very nice. Check in was super easy. The place was very comfortable and clean, but slightly worn. Unfortunately, the cookware needs upgrading because the teflon pans were scratched beyond usability. That's probably my biggest complaint because the kitchen is the biggest perk to renting a house (in my opinion).
