Melrose Guest House

Very welcoming, clean, comfortable, great breakfast, good location, easy on road parking, definitely can recommend a stay here.

Very comfortable base for our trip to the IOM which suited our budget well. We didn’t need a 5* hotel, we wanted somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep, which is exactly what we got. The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels if required. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided.The en suite was great, plenty of hot water, soap & shower gel provided. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were superb. Peter couldn’t have done more for us, the perfect host. Melrose is situated centrally, close to restaurants and the promenade, although it is up a very steep hill so it was also a keep fit holiday 😀. There are stairs to climb to reach the bedrooms and no lift, so less abled people may find it difficult.

Clean and comfortable. Full marks to the owner for sorting out the food allergy items that I had forgotten to mention in the original booking. We would stay here again if in the area.

The host couldn't have done more for us. The Melrose is convenient for the shops although there was a short uphill walk to get back. The room although compact was clean, the bedding was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good, cereal, orange juice, Tea or coffee and a full english and there was also the offer of Manx kippers if you wanted them.. There are a lot of stairs up to the rooms but that is typical of the B&Bs in Douglas. If I have one slight criticism it's that we could have done with a couple of bedside tables to put things like phones, glasses and other things on as we could only leave these things on the shelf by the kettle. We would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed my stay here. Found host very accommodating, on a cycle trip and kept my cycle inside and secure. Single room was small, but expected that. Spotlessly clean and had been newly refurbished So felt new Shared shower room good Cereal and full English was more than enough to start the day. Location not far from shops and Centre, but up a short sleep walk from prom. 5 min walk to manx museum. Satisfied my needs as a base to cycle and explore IOM.
