The room was amazing, huge comfy bed & lovely views over the garden. Some of the communal areas could benefit from some new carpets. A bit strange that you had to phone reception for milk as none provided. Restaurant is in the conservatory. Not a great choice - 2 meat, 1 fish & 1 vegetarian. The service was very hit & miss. On one night the waiter ordered my meal incorrectly, my husband had finished his meal by the time mine had finally arrived.

Our first stay at Montigo Resorts Somerset at Charlton House was fantastic! The hotel, with its long history, retains a beautiful vintage charm. The front and back yards are beautifully maintained, adding to the overall appeal of the place. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a great view of the expansive garden yards. It was a pleasure to have such a serene view to enjoy each day. Montigo Resorts is a wellness paradise. They have everything you could want, from a fully equipped gym to a relaxing hot pool. I had a wonderful time at the spa, where I experienced an authentic eastern massage that was incredibly rejuvenating. The staff were amazing, always friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to keep our children occupied throughout our stay, which we greatly appreciated. Their attentiveness made our stay much more enjoyable. Dinner at the resort was excellent. The food was delicious, and the dining experience was very pleasant. I highly recommend Montigo Resorts Somerset at Charlton House to anyone looking for a charming and well-equipped place to stay. Our family had a wonderful time, and we look forward to coming back soon!

Bit of a mixed bag. Our room was upgraded on arrival, which was a good start, but then told that anyone who doesn't book directly from their website has to pay £15 per person per day to use the spa. I guess this is their way of making back the price difference. Room was great. Dinner wasn't enjoyable, I would suggest avoiding the restaurant other than for breakfast. Food wasn't up to scratch, white wine brought out warm after a long wait, and surly service from one particular member of staff. Breakfast was generally good however. My partner (who has trained in massage) had a deep tissue massage in the spa, which was not to a good standard. The spa is called an 'Asian Spa' but a Thai massage is an extra £50 (£110 for standard 1 hour treatment / £160 for Thai). Also bear in mind the

Arrived and said the room wasn’t paid for, neither was the breakfast (breakfast was advertised as free) - booked a standard double and received a completely different room, it was tiny.. the key literally said it was a tiny room. I’m not even 6ft and couldn’t even fit in the shower. Upon arrival I was pressured to book a restaurant slot otherwise I wouldn’t eat, sitting in the bar I could hear every groan and gripe from the team when someone ordered. If you want milk you have to go to reception (would be easy if you didn’t have to go downstairs, outside around the building and back inside again just to get to reception) Long story short, the images show a good room. The room I got was the small room from your nans house.. back in 1970. Completely different!

We stayed to break our journey home after travelling up from Cornwall. We were allocated room 27 (South Wing) which apparently is their bridal suite. It comes not only with panoramic views of the gardens, but with a wee private balcony to sit outside and enjoy the vistas. The staff were friendly and service was fine. The food offered has limited choice but was like a good bistro. Perfectly acceptable. This is a 4* hotel with a spa, that uses distressed style, which may not be to everyone’s taste. All in all we enjoyed it. Value for money imho.

The "Oh Wow" moment when being shown to our room will be remembered for a very long time! A four poster bed and free standing bath with a view were pure luxury. The Spa was amazing, particularly the tropical rain shower. Everywhere was clean, staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was great and our visit was relaxing and just what was needed.

Incredible service, facilities and value. A great fusion of Asian luxury and British heritage. Breakfast was brilliant, bacon was world class!

The hotel is nice, food very limited. I didn’t like the dark rooms half the lights were not working. Too dark for me. The bed was lovely and slept like a log. Breakfast was ok but why a charge for a cappuccino bizarre! expensive stay not the cheapest!

This is not an 'exclusive' boutique hotel - it's way better than that. Charming property, nice modern decor - but also homely, comfortable and super friendly. A lot of that is down to the staff. We couldn't have been better looked after over our two-night stay. We tried the main restaurant and the bistro - both were very good.
